11 miles north-west of Bradford and 11 miles south of Ilkley is the industrial town of Keighley. Located between the rolling hills of the Aire valley and the beautifully rugged moorland of Bronte Country, it’s also just a stone’s throw away from the cobbled streets of picturesque Haworth. With its bustling town centre, popular indoor market, well-known steam railway station and an excellent museum housed in the former home of a Victorian millionaire, this West Yorkshire town has much to offer visitors.
Although not exactly known for its nightlife, Keighley does boast some superb local restaurants that are well worth visiting when in the area. Here are just a few of our favourites…
Amici

Owned and managed by Nick Risidi, Amici is a popular Italian restaurant in the centre of Keighley. Amici, which means “friends” is the perfect name for a place as welcoming as this.
Prior to founding Amici, Nick spent many years working in and then managing one of his father’s restaurants in Bradford. Amici opened back in 2008 and has since built an excellent reputation locally for fresh, carefull sourced ingredients and superb pizzas that are cooked in one of the few wood-burning pizza ovens in the country.
On the menu, you’ll find all the Italian favourites like Antipasto, Spaghetti Carbonara, Risotto and Calzone alongside quite an extensive list of meat dishes. Prices for starters begin at £4.49 and mains start from £9.99.

The Lemon Tree

The Lemon Tree is a family-run continental style cafe and bistro that hosts regular wine tasting evenings and live music events. Friendly and relaxed with a wonderfully quirky interior, The Lemon Tree is perfect for an informal meal with friends. By combining favourite dishes from different cuisines, they have created quite an eclectic menu.
Here, you’ll find flavoursome Spanish tapas, traditional Greek meze and Mexican street food favourites. Main courses begin at £10.50 and include popular dishes such as Enchiladas, Beef Stifado and Tuscan Chicken, all served with tasty fried patatas. If you like your meals full of flavour and with a spicy kick, The Lemon Tree certainly won’t disappoint.

Shimla Spice

Considered by many to be the best curry house in the area, Shimla Spice has an excellent reputation. Opened by three brothers in 1998, each with vast amounts of experience, the restaurant was an instant success and remains one of Keighley’s favourite places to eat. They have since gone on to open two other branches – one in Burnley and one in Shipley.
On their extensive menu you will find all the classic Indian curry dishes, cooked in the traditional Punjabi way, as well as superb chef specials and popular starters like pakoras, samosas and chaat. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, the food at Shimla Spice is always a hit with curry lovers and it’s all served in an opulently decorated dining room by attentive and knowledgable staff.

Thai on Aire

Keighley’s only authentic Thai restaurant first opened its doors back in 2009 and it has since built a loyal base of customers who are passionate about their Prawn Crackers and potty about their Pad Thai! Known for their excellent food and friendly staff, an evening here is always an evening spent well.
With an extensive menu catering to most dietary requirements and a fully licensed bar with a great selection of wines, Thai on Aire is a popular choice for romantic dinners, family gatherings and celebratory meals. Prepared by Thai chefs using ingredients sourced directly from Thailand, the food here is fresh, aromatic and 100% authentic. It’s also pretty reasonably priced with starter dishes beginning at just £4.00 and mains priced from just £5.95.

The Three Acres

The Three Acres is an independent pub and restaurant just outside Keighley, overlooking the stunning scenery of the Aire Valley. Perfect for family meals, it offers a warm Yorkshire welcome, hand pulled ales, an extensive selection of craft gins and a children’s play area.
Using fresh, locally-sourced produce as much as possible, the culinary team at The Tree Aces produce dishes from a variety of cuisines. They also cater to specific dietary requirements and have a range of gluten-free dishes on their menus. Starters are priced from £6 for the Soup of the Day with Tomato Bread. Mains begin at £12 and you can choooe from a small, yet varied selection of dishes including Black Treacle Beef Brisket and Seabass with Prawn, Chorizo and Pea Mashed Potatoes.
