Set over two Victorian buildings, Gianni’s is one of Scarborough’s longest-established family restaurants. Boasting an inviting exterior with seating, a cosy dining room and a menu bursting with authentic Italian dishes, it’s a firm favourite with locals. The restaurant originally opened as an Italian delicatessen 30 years ago and is still run by the same family.

On the menu at Gianni’s, you’ll find all the traditional pizza and pasta favourites lovingly prepared using local produce, in addition to an excellent selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. If you’re a fan of seafood, then you should try their seafood platter which comprises mussels, calamari and tiger prawns sourced from Whitby, served in white wine and tomato sauce. Yum! Prices for mains start at just £6.49.

Clark’s Restaurant

40 Queen Street, Scarborough YO11 1HQ

Established in 2016, Clark’s Restaurant on Queen Street has won awards for its use of seasonal local produce. Proud recipients of one rosette from the Hospitality Rosette Guide, their menu is a celebration of all the wonderful produce available in God’s Own Country.

Their locally sourced seafood features in some of their most popular dishes such as their ‘Posh Fish & Chips’ and ‘Proper Surf n Turf’. For a real treat, opt for their Scarborough Landed Lobster which is slow-roasted in garlic and parsley and then served with triple-cooked chips, samphire and roasted lobster mayonnaise. Expect to pay in the region of £20 for a main course at Clark’s Restaurant – slightly pricier than others in the area but well worth it!

Cowshed Burgers

burger restaurant in scarborough

94 – 100 St Thomas Street, Scarborough YO11 1DU

If it’s a casual dining restaurant in Scarborough you’re after then look no further than Cowshed Burgers. For us, a good burger is an essential component in a day out at the seaside and these guys offer some truly mouthwatering ones! Made using quality beef or chicken and available with all kinds of topping combinations, they’re big, fresh and delicious! They also have some great veggie and vegan alternatives.

In a central location and loved by kids as much as grown-ups, this is THE place to get a burger in sunny Scarborough but they also serve super tasty milkshakes and craft beers too. If your feet are aching after a walk along the promenade, head to Cowshed Burgers for a calorific but oh-so-satisfying treat. This excellent little place is open seven days a week from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The Green Room of Bar Street

Owned and managed by Head Chef Phil and his wife Rachel, The Green Room of Bar Street is a town centre restaurant very much focused on local produce. Phil, who graduated from Yorkshire Coast College, is a firm believer in ‘keeping it local’ and can often be found foraging for new ingredients to feature in his latest culinary creations.

At The Green Room of Bar Street, they offer a set price a la carte menu during the evening – £16 for one course, £23 for two or £30 for three courses. As their menu is based around seasonal produce it changes often but there’s always a great selection of dishes to choose from. Currently, the mains on this menu include ‘Steak Tartare’, ‘Lobster Bisque’, ‘Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab’ and ‘Goat’s Cheese Mousse’. Those seeking something cold and equally as indulgent may wish to sample their afternoon tea which is one of the best in Scarborough!

The Farrier

The Farrier is one of the highest-rated restaurants in Scarborough on TripAdvisor and deservingly so! Housed in a beautifully renovated historic site in the nearby village of Cayton, The Farrier is a restaurant, coffee house and cocktail bar with guest accommodation with a huge amount of character and an abundance of charm.

Food is served at The Farrier from breakfast through dinner and diners can expect seasonal menus that champion locally sourced produce. The menu changes regularly due to the restaurant’s focus on seasonal produce but one can expect to find a tempting array of hearty dishes showcasing the finest Yorkshire ingredients.
