Popular Leeds restaurant and nightspot Nyla’s is marking its first year with a big step forward. The venue has confirmed plans to double in size by taking on an additional floor in its Briggate building, creating more space for guests and a new private hire area.
The six-figure investment will see the venue expand its capacity and add flexibility for eating, drinking and dancing. The upstairs space will carry Nyla’s signature design while introducing its own character, with greenery, statement lighting and bold details. It will also feature a private hire space that can transform into a late-night cocktail bar.

Nyla’s general manager, Alicia Varley, said: “From day one, the goal at Nyla’s has been to blend great food, cocktails, and music in a setting that feels unique and above all fun. After an incredible first year we have rapidly outgrown our space and couldn’t be more grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve had from the Leeds community and our valued regular customers. We can’t wait to unveil our new look just in time to celebrate our first birthday.”

The opening of the new floor will coincide with the launch of a refreshed food and drink offering. Guests can expect new dishes, seasonal twists on favourites, brunch options and indulgent plates, alongside an expanded cocktail and drinks list.

Events are also set to grow, with themed nights, more resident DJs and weekly offers planned.
Nyla’s opened in October 2024, founded by three friends who wanted to create a social hub in the city. Since then, it has reached capacity every week and built a strong following both in Leeds and online.
Work on the expansion is underway and the venue will continue to operate as normal while the transformation takes place. The new look Nyla’s will be unveiled as part of its first birthday celebrations this autumn.
