Award-winning independent brewery Northern Monk has revealed plans for its upcoming Refectory site in York. Located on Little Stonegate in the heart of the city, Refectory York is set to open at the end of October, offering a relaxed all-day dining and drinks experience.
The venue occupies a spacious historic townhouse. On the ground floor, there will be a wall-to-wall bar, a snug tasting room, and outdoor space. The first floor will feature a bespoke dining area and three resident kitchens. As with all Northern Monk venues, serving fresh independent craft beer will be central, with 18 draft taps and two cask taps pouring beers from their Leeds brewery as well as guest breweries from around the world.
For the first time, Northern Monk will collaborate with Supamarkets, a new concept from the team behind Leeds favourites Belgrave Music Hall, Ox Club, and House of Fu. Supamarkets will introduce three resident kitchens: Yonkers, serving fresh takes on authentic New York-style pizza slices and full pies; Fu Express, offering Japanese-inspired snacks; and Crudo Cantina, presenting vibrant tacos.
Refectory York is Northern Monk’s first Refectory opening in seven years, following sister sites in Leeds and Manchester. The project follows the brewery’s successful crowdfunding campaign aimed at becoming Europe’s biggest craft brewery by 2035.
