Stone House Hotel in Hawes has been named one of this year’s winners of VisitEngland’s ROSE (Recognition of Service Excellence) Awards, recognising some of the country’s best accommodation providers.
The national award recognises hotels and guesthouses that deliver exceptional service, warm welcomes, and memorable stays. Now in its ninth year, the ROSE scheme also shines a light on businesses that support their local communities.
Stone House Hotel is one of only 15 Yorkshire businesses to be recognised in 2025 and the only hotel in the Yorkshire Dales to win. Winners are nominated by VisitEngland’s Quality Scheme assessors and chosen using a mix of guest reviews and service standards.
The award builds on a string of honours for the hotel, which has already achieved VisitEngland Gold Awards in 2024 and 2025, a place in The Good Hotel Guide, and regular Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice recognition.
Since taking over in 2022, owners Joe and Holly Hobson have worked to maintain the hotel’s reputation for Yorkshire hospitality while making careful improvements to enhance guest experience.
Co-owner Holly Hobson commented, “We’re incredibly proud to receive this award, but even more proud of our wonderful team who deserve all the credit for this fantastic achievement. It’s their passion, care, and attention to detail that make Stone House what it is. They go above and beyond every day to deliver a unique brand of Yorkshire hospitality, something that can’t be replicated, and our guests can feel from the moment they arrive.”
The hotel has been part of the Yorkshire Dales community since 1981 and remains closely tied to the area. It sources ingredients from local producers and offers events that celebrate the region, featuring cheese masterclasses, wine tastings, and stargazing on the terrace. More than 90 per cent of the team were born in Yorkshire, with most living within ten miles of Hawes.
