BBC Introducing Live Hits the National Science and Media Museum This October

Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum will welcome BBC Introducing Live on Friday 10 October, giving aspiring musicians, DJs and producers the chance to showcase their work, get expert advice, and connect with industry professionals.

The one-off event will feature two panel discussions. The first, “Building a Community as an Artist,” will explore how musicians can connect with audiences, other creatives, and the wider music industry. Antony Szmierek, acclaimed spoken word artist and musician, will join the panel following his standout performance at St George’s Hall as part of the BBC Contains Strong Language Festival. Sinead Campbell, Artist, Creative Producer, and Director of Rise Up Music, will also participate, alongside DJ and BBC Radio 1 presenter Maia Beth and BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing Leeds and Sheffield presenter Emily Pilbeam.

The second panel, “How to Make a Living as an Artist in 2025,” will look at the practical side of a music career today. Claire Hamilton, Launchpad+ Project Lead, Daniel Jones, Writer Relationship Manager at PRS for Music, Jericho from BBC Introducing North Yorkshire & Humberside, and Casey Lowery will share advice on navigating the music industry and building a sustainable career.

Visitors can also take part in the Feedback Centre to share their music with industry experts and receive guidance on refining their craft and identifying next steps. DJs can join the Open Decks session in the museum’s foyer, with 10 to 15-minute slots to play their mixes in a national museum setting.

The event is part of Bradford’s UK City of Culture 2025 programme, which celebrates the district’s creative talent and arts scene. Hosting BBC Introducing Live in the city reflects the museum’s mission of supporting emerging creatives, showcasing local talent, and connecting audiences with cultural opportunities.

Since its launch, BBC Introducing has supported unsigned British musicians through the BBC Introducing Uploader, alongside 24 local radio shows and six national shows on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, and 6 Music. Successful artists, including Ed Sheeran, Raye, Olivia Dean, Sam Fender, and Loyle Carner, began their careers with BBC Introducing support.

Tickets cost £3 for those aged 16 and over and include access to both panels, the Feedback Centre, and the chance to apply for an Open Deck slot.
