Kick off the festive season in Yorkshire style with the Ripley Castle Christmas Market on Sunday 30 November. Entry to the market, Castle grounds, and gardens is free, offering a perfect day out for families, friends, and four-legged visitors alike.
Now in its third year, Real Markets at Ripley Castle has become a Christmas destination, transforming the Castle’s historic Courtyard with over 40 Yorkshire-based traders. Shoppers can browse handcrafted breads, pastries, cheese, charcuterie, ceramics, candles, chocolates and more. Whether hunting for unique gifts, stocking fillers, or festive treats, there is something for everyone.
All traders are Yorkshire independents producing their own goods or speciality products. Highlights this year include Farsley Fire and Smoke, a hot food stall from a local smokehouse; Choc 53 Degrees, offering handmade chocolates; and Condimental, making jams and chutneys. Newcomers include Sticky Nuts, specialising in peanut brittle, and White Horse Lavender, offering dried lavender from their farm. Wass Farm will sell charcuterie from rare breed pigs, giving visitors a chance to chat with the makers and discover their craft.

Visitors can enjoy live music, hot food and drinks, and browse Ripley’s gardens and grounds for a full festive experience. Fizzy Fox, a home interiors and clothing boutique, will also make its market debut, showcasing its latest collections.
Real Markets supports the community by offering free stalls to local charities. This Christmas, the local RSPB branch will join the event, following previous support for Harrogate Cat Rescue and Ripley Endowed CofE Primary School.
Lucy Allen from Real Markets said: “Real Markets is the perfect place to stock up on handcrafted festive food and gifts you won’t find on the high street. Free access to Ripley Castle’s gardens and grounds is an extra, welcome treat for families including four-legged friends. With a bright and dry forecast, it is set to be a wonderful day to welcome the Christmas season.”
Other North Yorkshire Christmas markets include Yolk Farm on 6 and 13 December, Harrogate Farmers’ Market on 18 December, and Harrogate Makers’ Market on 21 December.
