JORVIK Viking Festival Returns to York for February Half-Term Family Fun

York is set for a week of family fun as the JORVIK Viking Festival runs from 16–22 February 2026. Europe’s largest Viking festival will bring hands-on history, crafts, and Norse-themed entertainment to the city’s streets and historic venues.

Highlights include a free living history encampment on Parliament Street, the popular Berserker Bootcamp for young warriors, and the Kids Barbaric Battle at the Eye of York. Children can also enjoy Viking-inspired crafts at Barley Hall, including beard-making, brooch design, and pottery.

The festival concludes on 21 February with the March to Coppergate, a parade of 500 Vikings through the city centre, ending with a choreographed combat display.

Mark Jackson, festival organiser, said, “JORVIK Viking Festival is one of the most popular family festivals in the city. With a mix of paid and free activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Booking is recommended for the JORVIK Viking Centre. For the full programme and tickets, visit jorvikvikingfestival.co.uk and jorvikvikingcentre.co.uk.
