A new Popeyes restaurant has opened its doors in Hull, bringing the spirit of New Orleans to the East Riding of Yorkshire. The launch at Kingswood Retail Park on Friday 13th March saw fans queue from 5:30pm the night before to be among the first to try the world-famous Chicken Sandwich.
The opening marks the eighth Popeyes site to launch in 2026. The event featured a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony and exclusive merchandise giveaways for those waiting in line. Among the crowds was Stefan, who queued with his daughter. He said: “I tried Popeyes in Meadowhall and honestly it beats any other chicken I’ve had. I came down with my daughter today and were both really excited to see it finally arrive.”
Another fan, Damien, joined the queue at 8pm the previous evening. He added: “I first tried Popeyes in Sheffield and absolutely loved it. When I heard Hull was getting a new restaurant, I wanted to come down for the opening and try it out again!”
The restaurant offers both dine-in and takeaway options. The menu features signature items, including the Chicken Sandwich, wraps, hot wings, and hand-spun shakes. It also includes the Kickback Collection, featuring a popular smoky, tangy dip. Since its launch in November, the brand has sold more than 19 million millilitres of the sauce.
All chicken at the site is marinated for 12 hours in Louisiana seasoning before being hand-breaded and battered. For early risers, a breakfast menu is available daily from 8am to 10am, featuring a £1.99 meal deal.
Tom Crowley, Popeyes UK CEO, said: “Today marks another exciting milestone for Popeyes as we open our very first Hull location. Kingswood Retail Park is the perfect home for our iconic Chicken Sandwich, and we’ve already seen such a warm welcome from the local community right here in East Yorkshire.”
The new site on Althorp Road has created 91 local jobs. It features 74 indoor seats, self-service kiosks, and “Park and Serve” spots for those ordering via the website or app.
