Sheffield teenager and rising motorsport star Rowan Campbell-Pilling made a statement on his GB3 Championship debut at Silverstone, securing three top-ten finishes and climbing to an impressive fifth place in the official standings.
The 17-year-old, who is the only driver from Sheffield and Yorkshire on the GB3 grid, made the step up to the championship, formerly known as British F3, following two successful seasons in Formula 4 and a recent victory in the F4 UAE Trophy Series. Competing in a field of 22 drivers from 14 different nationalities, Rowan reached speeds of up to 160mph, claiming two P5 finishes and a P7 over the weekend.

His performance at Silverstone saw him emerge as the highest-placed debutant in the series, which serves as a proven stepping stone toward FIA Formula 3. For his GB3 campaign, Rowan has rejoined Xcel Motorsport, the Dubai-based team that supported his success in the UAE last year.
Rowan said:
“It’s been a great start to the GB3 season with three top ten finishes at Silverstone. Despite competing against more experienced drivers from around the world, I’ve managed to place fifth in the GB3 Championship standings. I’m thrilled about our results and look forward to making more progress over the rest of the championship. Thank you to all my partners who joined me on track and to everyone back at home cheering me on. Here’s to Belgium next month.”
Rowan’s journey this season is supported by a roster of partners, including Altitude, Exol Lubricants, H Harrold & Sons, Hydra Creative, Made in Sheffield, Rathbones PLC, Simoda, and UX Global. Proudly representing the “Steel City,” Rowan now prepares for his next round of racing at the iconic Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium from 28–31 May.
