The national FUEL roadshow is set to arrive in Yorkshire on Wednesday 10th June, offering small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) a rare chance to meet face-to-face with major funders and investors.
Taking place at Rotherham’s AESSEAL New York Stadium, the event is designed to strip away the jargon and complexity often associated with business finance. Organised by specialists UMi, the roadshow facilitates pre-matched, one-to-one meetings. The debut event in Newcastle has already seen business owners secure offers totalling over £2 million to support their growth plans.
The initiative has received high-level backing from Blair McDougall MP, Minister for Small Business, who highlighted that while Yorkshire’s 400,000 SMEs are the “backbone of the economy,” many still lack the finance to unlock their full potential.

Nicki Clark OBE, CEO of UMi, said:
“FUEL has been designed so business owners can have access to everything they need in one place over the space of just one day. It isn’t a ‘trade expo’ but more so ‘get it done’ workshops and meetings where those delivering ambitious growth plans can get the support they need.”
UMi has a strong track record in the region, recently announcing its role in delivering the Great Ideas programme for the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, which offers grants of up to £60,000. The FUEL event is supported by partners including NatWest, the British Business Bank, and the CBI.
