As excitement builds for a major summer of football, supermarket giant Asda has launched a quirky new campaign designed to give a little extra love to a specific group of fans: anyone named Caroline.
From Wednesday 10th June to Monday 20th July 2026, customers named Caroline can claim a free hot drink every single day at participating Asda Cafés nationwide. The playful initiative aims to provide a “moment of calm” and a well-deserved break for those who find themselves at the center of the crowd’s vocal cords every time England takes to the pitch.
Alongside the free caffeine fix, Asda has pledged to completely remove the iconic Neil Diamond anthem, Sweet Caroline, from its store playlists during England matches this summer to ensure an extra bit of peace for shoppers.
While the historic singalong has become synonymous with pubs, living rooms, and tournament celebrations across the country, the supermarket noted that many Carolines spend their summers hearing their name belted out more times than they can count.
An Asda Spokesperson said: “For years, Carolines across the country have had to smile politely while hearing the same football singalong on repeat every summer. While the rest of the nation joins in, we thought it was time to give Carolines a well-earned break.
”A free hot drink felt like the perfect excuse to put their feet up for a few minutes, and by giving the track a rest in our stores during England matches, we’re helping create a little moment of peace for Carolines everywhere.”
The promotion is active now and will run throughout the heart of the summer football tournament, wrapping up on Monday 20th July. Carolines looking to claim their daily brew simply need to visit a participating, staffed Asda Café.
