Shoppers in Leeds were treated to a superhero sight this week as Trinity Leeds’ iconic glass dome was cleaned by a real-life “Spider-Man”.
To celebrate the release of the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day film later this month, specialist high-level window cleaning company PLA swapped its usual workwear for a Spider-Man suit as one of its team scaled the shopping centre’s 40,000 sq ft glass roof.
The spectacular stunt saw the superhero lookalike suspended high above shoppers as they carried out their regular cleaning of the landmark dome, creating a picture-perfect moment in the heart of the city. The dome, one of Leeds’ most recognisable architectural features, requires specialist rope-access cleaners to keep its glass sparkling throughout the year.

For one day only, PLA’s Mitchell Payne, 31, from Leeds, embraced his inner superhero, proving there may be a little truth behind Spider-Man’s famous wall-climbing abilities.
Steven Foster, Centre Director at Trinity Leeds, said: “Our glass dome is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, so seeing Spider-Man on it certainly stopped people in their tracks. It’s a great visual moment and a fun way to celebrate the release of the new Spider-Man film later this month.”
He added: “Our window cleaning team do a great job year-round to keep the glass dome looking its brilliant best, but this week they excelled themselves, swinging into action for us like real-life superheroes.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released in the UK on 31st July and will be shown at Trinity’s Everyman Cinema.
