Child Bereavement UK Invites Hikers to Join Yorkshire Three Peaks ‘Hike for Hope’

Child Bereavement UK is challenging local residents to step up for its annual Hike for Hope: Yorkshire Three Peaks event on Saturday 12th September, raising vital funds to support grieving children, young people, and parents.

Starting from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, participants will take on a 24-mile circular route covering Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. Guided by experienced Mountain Leaders, hikers will tackle an overall ascent of over 1,580 metres in a single day through the Yorkshire Dales.

Registration costs £25 per person, with a minimum fundraising target of £250. Entrants can register individually or as part of a team with friends and family, with training advice and fundraising guidance supplied by the charity’s dedicated challenges team.

Many walkers take on the challenge in memory of loved ones while raising money for the UK’s largest provider of childhood bereavement support. Former participant Dawn, who completed the trek alongside her daughter in memory of her mother, shared: “The whole experience was incredible. The last peak was the biggest challenge as the weather turned, but it was enjoyable, especially as we had a goal which was to raise money for a deserving charity. My advice to anyone considering a challenge is just do it. There’s no better feeling than challenging yourself while raising money for an incredible cause.”

Child Bereavement UK provides free, accessible online grief support across the UK for children and young people up to age 25, alongside parents bereaved of a baby or child. Trained specialists are available Monday to Friday (8am–8pm) via phone, email, text, WhatsApp, and live web chat.

Places for the Hike for Hope: Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge are open now. Full details and registration forms can be found on the Child Bereavement UK website at childbereavementuk.org.
