Sheffield synth-pop pioneers The Human League have been revealed as the latest headliner for next year’s Live at York Museum Gardens concert series, taking to the outdoor stage on Saturday 3rd July 2027.
The outdoor concert series, staged in the historic 10-acre botanical gardens set against the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, is extending to run across two full weekends for the first time. The Human League joins previously announced headliner Olly Murs, with more acts still to be announced by independent promoters Futuresound Group and York Museums Trust.
Formed in 1977, The Human League achieved global fame following their seminal 1981 album Dare! and chart-topping anthem ‘Don’t You Want Me’. Selling over 20 million records worldwide, the group became spearheads of the Second British Invasion in the US.

The synth-pop legends will be joined in York by a stacked lineup of special guests from the 1980s music scene, including pop duo Go West, electronic act Blancmange, and new-wave icon Toyah.
Previous editions of the concert series have seen sold-out crowds enjoy performances from Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Self Esteem, and Super Furry Animals, alongside comedy shows from Russell Howard and Ross Noble.
A special presale for York residents holding YO postcodes (YO1, YO10, YO19, YO23, YO24, YO26, YO30, YO31, and YO32) opens at 10am on Wednesday 7th October. General ticket sales go live at 10am on Friday 9th October, with full details on the Futuresound Group website.
