Tesco is coming to the rescue of busy parents in Yorkshire this Halloween by giving away free pre-carved pumpkins in selected stores, including locations in Sheffield and York.
New research from the supermarket chain shows that while pumpkin carving is a favourite tradition for nearly half the population, 36% of Brits admit they would appreciate a helping hand with their spooky designs.
To take the pressure off, Tesco has appointed professional pumpkin artists to carve intricate limited-edition creations for shoppers to take home for free, alongside classic Jack-o’-lantern options.

The nationwide initiative features pop-up giveaways across 10 selected stores from today until Saturday 31st October 2026. Yorkshire shoppers can catch the event on two specific dates:
- Monday 26 October 2026: Tesco Sheffield Extra
- Wednesday 28 October 2026: Tesco York Tadcaster Road Extra
Each participating store will host the giveaway for one afternoon only, with pre-carved pumpkins available on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last.

The special designs draw inspiration from the year’s biggest cultural moments, including 2026’s solar eclipse, the historic Bayeux Tapestry visit, the Artemis II space mission, and the summer’s major football tournament.
Tesco’s research revealed that 28% of Brits feel pressure to display a impressive pumpkin on their doorstep, while 37% of parents admit they prefer a polished look over the inevitable mess of DIY carving.
For families who still prefer to carve their own, Tesco continues to stock its full range of uncarved pumpkins across all stores, with prices starting from 55p for mini munchkin varieties.
