HECK! Hosts Fifth Factory Open Day in Bedale as Sausage Demand Hits 1 Million Per Day

Award-winning food brand HECK! has announced it will host its fifth recruitment event this Saturday 24 October 2026, offering local jobseekers the chance to join its growing workforce in North Yorkshire.

Based in Kirklington near Bedale, the family-run business is now producing around one million sausages every day as demand surges across its range of premium sausages, burgers, meatballs, and rashers.

To support this ongoing expansion, the company is hosting a Factory Open Day from 10am to 12pm. Prospective employees can tour the facility, meet staff, and interview on the day for roles including Mixing Room Supervisors, Picking Team Members, Packing Team Members, and Day and Night Hygiene Team Members.

The recruitment drive comes amidst widespread manufacturing labour shortages across North Yorkshire. By opening its doors directly to candidates, HECK! aims to showcase its workplace culture before people apply.

The strategy has already proven successful. Andy Sheehan, a military veteran who attended a previous open day, joined the business after relocating to North Yorkshire.

“The open day was a great way to get a feel for the business before joining,” said Andy Sheehan. “Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and you could tell straight away that it’s a family business where people genuinely care about each other, while at the same time the working environment is fast-paced and dynamic.”

“I’m really excited to be working for such a great family-and-friends business and to be part of a team that’s growing together.”

Founded in Yorkshire in 2013, HECK! supplies major retailers nationwide from its Bedale headquarters.

Jamie Keeble, HECK! co-founder, said: “Our growth means we’re continuing to invest in both our people and our production facilities. Every time we expand, we need great people to join the business, which is why our factory open days have become such an important part of our recruitment strategy. It’s great that we’re attracting people like Andy, who can bring their brilliant skills to our business.”

“We want people to come in, meet the team, see how we work and experience the culture that makes HECK! such a special place to work. We’re also looking to give local people the opportunity to build long-term careers with us.”

While prior food manufacturing experience is welcome, the open day is open to anyone exploring a career in the industry. Further details and registration are available at heckfood.co.uk.
