In the year 1942, Britain’s most celebrated Prime Minster, Winston Churchill, delivered a speech to the people of Bradford.
Standing outside Bradford Town Hall on 6th December 1942, Britain’s Wartime leader was met with a “true Yorkshire welcome” as he spoke about the progress of the British and American armed forces as well as the challenges they faced during the ongoing war.
He recalled recent victories made by our soldiers, sailors and airmen, celebrated advancements made in North Africa, shared the achievements of our allies and described the previous month as one in which our affairs had “prospered”.
