Yorkshire-based Low Carb & Keto Baking Mix start-up Go-low has been named among the top food and drink producers globally this year, picking up highly-prized Great Taste Awards for its Seedy Crackers and Easy Wraps.
More than 14,000 products were put through the competition’s rigorous blind judging process and as winners of the only awards given this year to low carb and keto baking mixes, they were over the moon.
What makes this even more reason to celebrate is the fact that it began on a kitchen table just 2 years ago. Louise Gross, the mum of three behind Go-low said: “I started Go-low from my kitchen table, during lockdown with a Kenwood mixer given as an engagement present 20 years ago. So, as a small local business, winning these prestigious awards is just wonderful.”
She added, “We’re all so excited to have won a Great Taste award for not just one but two of our products. I have dreamt of this moment and am so proud to be adding the iconic black and gold Great Taste logo to our packaging which we have recently given a complete refresh.”
Go-low was dubbed ‘A very clever concept and mix’ at the world’s most coveted food and drink awards. Their wraps we’re an obvious big hit with the judges saying ‘Innovative in concept, this wrap provides textural interest and a sweeter flavour profile than expected. The pepper and garlic are subtle but pleasing. Would be a tasty alternative to tortilla wraps.’ Made with Coconut flour and superfood sesame seeds these wraps pack a punch in terms of health benefits, flavour and fibre content.
What is Great Taste?
Recognised as a stamp of excellence and actively sought out by food lovers and retailers alike, Great Taste is organised by the Guild of Fine Food and values taste above all else. All products in the line-up for judging are blind-tasted: every product having been removed from its packaging so it cannot be identified, before entering a robust, layered judging process.
This year, the judging took place over 90 days across two judging locations (Dorset and London) with a panel of more than 500 judges. This year’s line-up saw food and drink products submitted from a staggering 110 different countries from across the world. Which makes Go-low’s achievement so great and shows the UK is leading the way in keto and low carb baking mixes.
