Flair Furniture’s Bed Kingdom Climbs the Ranks in Yorkshire’s Fastest 50

Yorkshire-based furniture retailer Flair Furniture, trading as Bed Kingdom, has once again secured a spot on the prestigious Ward Hadaway Fastest 50 list—this time making a major leap up the rankings. After placing 45th in 2024, the company has soared to 18th place in this year’s list, thanks to an impressive average turnover growth of 50.77%.

The Fastest 50 list celebrates Yorkshire’s fastest-growing businesses, using financial data from Companies House to rank firms based on their annual turnover and profitability growth. This achievement highlights the strength of Flair Furniture’s expansion and its contribution to the region’s economy.

Ashley Hainsworth, Managing Director of Flair Furniture, said: “The past few years have been a period of growth for Flair Furniture and Bed Kingdom. We are thrilled to be recognised in the Ward Hadaway Fastest 50 Awards.

“This ongoing growth allows us to continue positively contributing to the Yorkshire economy. In recent years, we’ve also been able to reinvest in the business and open a new warehouse in Heckmondwike that enables us to hold more products in stock and significantly speed up customer deliveries. We’ve also been able to create new jobs in the region and expand our product offering into living room furniture and sofas.”

Flair Furniture has grown from humble beginnings, with Ashley starting the company as a university project in 2011 using just a £400 investment. Since then, Bed Kingdom has become a leading online furniture retailer, specialising in beds and bedroom furniture while expanding into a broader range of home furnishings.

Emma Digby, Executive Partner in Ward Hadaway’s Leeds office, commented: “We are delighted to see Bed Kingdom recognised as one of Yorkshire’s fastest-growing businesses. Their sustained growth and strong financial performance are a clear reflection of their commitment to innovation and excellence. This achievement sets an example for other businesses in the region.

“The Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards highlight the strength and resilience of regional businesses. Bed Kingdom has shown what can be achieved through dedication and strategic vision and we look forward to seeing their continued success.”

As Flair Furniture continues its upward trajectory, the company is also increasing its focus on sustainability. It has expanded its Noomi range, featuring FSC-certified furniture made from ethically sourced Scandinavian pine, and is working with more European suppliers to minimise its carbon footprint. Future plans include installing solar panels at its Heckmondwike warehouse and investing in a fleet of electric delivery vans.

With a commitment to growth, sustainability, and customer satisfaction, Bed Kingdom is proving that success in e-commerce can go hand in hand with innovation and responsibility. One thing is certain—this Yorkshire business is only heading in one direction: up.
