A brand-new, completely free food festival called Flavours of Yorkshire has just dropped its chef lineup, and it’s looking pretty tasty. The two-day event is heading to Galtres Park (the old Pickering Showground) on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2026.
TV favourite James Martin is headlining the Saturday with three live cooking demos. Festival entry is totally free, but you do need to grab tickets for James’s slots ahead of time. Sunday is all about local food legends, with free demos from MasterChef finalist Ollie Farrar, Master Patissier Florian Poirot, and the teams from Yorkshire Pasta and Tofoo & Co.

The weekend is being put together by Mark Brayshaw, the man behind the massive Malton Food Lover’s Festival, which wrapped up last year. He’s using the huge space at Galtres Park to give local independent producers a major showcase, and he’s keeping it budget-friendly with free entry and free parking.

Expect loads of brilliant Yorkshire food and drink stalls, street food, and plenty of free tastings. There’s also a “Whole Hog Barbecue” competition that anyone can enter – just make sure to sign up online by 19th June.

Plus, if you’re worried about missing the British Grand Prix that weekend, don’t sweat it – they’re screening the whole race live on a big screen in the festival bar.
Festival boss Mark Brayshaw said:
“I know that there is still demand, both from the public… and from the local producers who see this as brilliant showcase for their products… We’re bringing together some of Yorkshire’s best chefs and producers, but also making sure it remains accessible, with free entry so everyone can come along and enjoy it.”
