Lishman’s of Ilkley has cemented its status as one of the UK’s premier artisan butchers after securing two prestigious Diamond Awards at the 2026 Smithfield Awards. The Ilkley-based business was the only butcher in the country to win in two separate categories at the national ceremony held at Butchers’ Hall in London.
The Smithfield Awards, organised by the Q Guild of Butchers, are considered the most challenging product evaluations in the meat trade. Lishman’s Dry Cured Streaky Bacon achieved a flawless score of 70/70 to win the ‘Home Cured Bacon’ category, with judges describing it as a “wonderful, faultless product.” The shop’s Game & Red Wine Pie also took home the top prize in the ‘Speciality Game Meat Product’ category, scoring an exceptional 69/70.
Beyond the Diamond accolades, the butcher picked up four Gold Awards for its Heritage Breed Rib Eye Steak, Thick Champion Pork Sausage, Pork Pie, and Beech Smoked Chicken, as well as two Silver awards.

Founded in 1986 by David Lishman and now run alongside his daughter, Emma, the shop has evolved into a national destination for quality meat and charcuterie. Following a major refurbishment in 2022, the store now features a specialized Himalayan salt-block aging room to maximize the flavor of its dry-aged beef.
