A brand-new Italian wine bar and kitchen has officially opened its doors in Northallerton, bringing authentic Sicilian flavours and family-produced wines to the North Yorkshire market town.
Veeno welcomed its first guests on Thursday 15th October at the Treadmills development following a VIP launch event attended by local business leaders and the Mayor of Northallerton, Cllr Andrew Hugill.
The venue is the very first Veeno to open in North Yorkshire and has created 10 new jobs in the town. It is operated by franchisee Chris Fernandes alongside his wife, Sherryl.

Inside, diners can enjoy traditional cured-meat and cheese sharing boards, freshly hand-pressed Roman-style pinsa flatbreads, pasta dishes, and homemade desserts, including tiramisu made from the original recipe of founder Nino Caruso’s grandmother.

Wine is at the heart of the experience, with many bottles sourced directly from Caruso’s family vineyard, Caruso & Minini, in Marsala on the west coast of Sicily. Guests can also book structured wine tasting sessions, including “A Trip to Sicily” which pairs 5 family wines with authentic Italian dishes.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have officially opened our doors in Northallerton,” said Chris Fernandes. “It’s been a lot of hard work getting to this point, so to finally welcome people into the venue and see them enjoying the food, wine and atmosphere is a fantastic feeling.”
Veeno founder Nino Caruso added: “When we launched Veeno in 2013, our ambition was to share our family’s Sicilian wines and the Italian tradition of bringing people together over great food and drink. To see that vision continuing to grow in towns and cities across the UK is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
The venue at Unit 7 of the Treadmills development on East Road is now open, with online bookings available for both dining and wine-tasting experiences at veenobars.com.
