Award-winning Chapel Allerton cheesemonger George & Joseph is bringing back its popular Yorkshire Day tradition this Saturday, 1st August, offering free cheese to customers who arrive wearing a flat cap.
The local shop is rewarding the first 25 people through the door in a traditional flat cap with a complimentary 100g piece of Yorkshire cheese.
To mark the occasion, George & Joseph has also curated two limited-edition Yorkshire cheese selections available in-store and online:
- The Yorkshire Cheese Selection (£15): Includes 100g Harrogate Blue, 100g Yorkshire Pecorino Fresco, and 100g Summerfields Organic.
- The Complete Yorkshire Cheeseboard (£25): Includes the three Yorkshire cheeses alongside Fine Cheese Co crackers and Wild & Fruitful chutney.
Stephen Fleming, owner of George & Joseph, said: “Yorkshire Day is one of our favourite days of the year. It’s a chance to celebrate everything that makes this county special, not least the incredible cheesemakers producing world-class cheeses right on our doorstep.
“The flat cap giveaway has become a bit of a tradition for us and it’s always fun seeing customers embrace the spirit of the day. And if I’m honest, we’re always slightly taken aback by just how many people actually do it, hence limiting it to the first 25 people to arrive!”
The flat cap offer begins at shop opening on Saturday, 1st August for the first 25 eligible customers. The shop will also host extra Yorkshire cheese tastings at the counter throughout the day.
