Mexican restaurant chain Boojum has launched a £6,000 “Haul in One” competition to support Leeds students facing increased living expenses during Freshers 2026.
Recent figures from the University of Leeds show that students face average living costs of £320 per week, totalling £12,480 for a 39-week academic year. Accommodation accounts for up to £210 per week, with groceries averaging £36 and personal spending adding £59 per week.
To help offset these costs, Boojum’s campaign offers one winner a £6,000 prize bundle. The package includes a MacBook, a PlayStation 5, a 50-inch TV, noise-cancelling headphones, an air fryer, a coffee machine, a JBL speaker, and decorative traffic cones. The winner can choose between the physical bundle or a direct cash-equivalent transfer, alongside a supply of free Boojum for a year.
“We know Freshers is a massive part of student life,” said Paul McCullagh, Head of Marketing at Boojum. “We wanted to create an unforgettable giveaway that would excite students, so we’ve gone all out with £6,000 worth of prizes and Free Boojum for a Year. Hopefully it gives them a bit of a boost during their uni life and takes some of the pressure off along the way.”
The competition is free to enter online and closes on Sunday 4 October 2026.
