British chocolate brand Ombar has launched a new plant-based chocolate bar, Ombar Blonde, now available in the Free From aisle of Tesco Extra stores across the UK from 21st April 2025.
Described as a creamy, caramel and vanilla-flavoured alternative to white chocolate, Ombar Blonde is entirely dairy-free, organic, and made with Fair Trade cocoa butter. It’s crafted using a blend of desiccated coconut, Madagascan vanilla, chicory root and caramelised sugar, offering a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth experience without the need for milk.
What sets it apart is its health-conscious twist. The bar contains around 50% less sugar than traditional white chocolate and is sweetened with natural ingredients like chicory root fibre, which also supports gut health. It’s free from palm oil, emulsifiers, artificial sweeteners and ultra-processed ingredients.

Originally developed as a limited-edition tribute to nostalgic flavours like Caramac, Ombar Blonde quickly gained popularity and has now earned a permanent spot on shelves.
“Ombar Blonde is our modern twist on rich, creamy white chocolate,” said Richard Turner, co-founder of Ombar. “We’re excited it’s now available nationwide, giving more people the chance to enjoy a luxurious dairy-free treat.”
Nutritionist Naomi Newman-Beinart added: “With one in five people in the UK estimated to be lactose intolerant, Ombar Blonde is more than just a treat—it’s a solution for those looking for ethical, dairy-free alternatives.”
Ombar Blonde is priced at £2.75 for a 70g bar and can be found in Tesco Extra stores nationwide.
