The team at Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky distillery, Spirit of Yorkshire, is set to launch a limited-edition whisky to celebrate Yorkshire Day at its upcoming Open Weekend on 1st and 2nd August.
Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2026 Special Release marks the seventh annual bottling in the distillery’s limited-run series created for the occasion. Only 1,500 bottles of the spirit, matured in refill sherry hogshead casks, will be available exclusively from the distillery in Hunmanby, North Yorkshire, and through their website.
Spirit of Yorkshire’s Whisky Director, Joe Clark, expressed his excitement ahead of the launch: “We firmly believe that some of the very best whisky to ever mature at our distillery comes from refill sherry casks. These casks have already gone through a maturation cycle with us, softening the oak extractives and maximising the impact of the cask in maturation.
“This gentle process allows our light, fruity new make spirit to interact beautifully with the oak, resulting in a wonderfully complex and elegant flavour profile. The Yorkshire Day release is always one of the most anticipated of the year, and pre-sales have been buoyant.”
Bottled at 55% ABV, Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2026 is described as soft, fruity, and complex, featuring tasting notes of fruit cake, brioche, frangipane, and chocolate-covered raisins. It comes packaged in a cut-away presentation carton displaying the distillery’s bespoke embossed bottle and detailing its field-to-bottle story.
Retailing at £95, the release will be sold via the distillery shop and online at spiritofyorkshire.com.
Spirit of Yorkshire operates as a Single Estate distillery, growing 100% of the regeneratively farmed barley used to produce its whiskies. The distillery’s spirits are distributed across the UK and exported globally, earning a spot among the top 50 spirits producers in the world by the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in 2025.
