The Treasury Whitby has announced a prestigious new partnership with drinks supplier Matthew Clark, bringing a curated selection of world-class wines, including a standout range of Balfour English wines, to the town’s newest destination.
Opening this summer in the meticulously restored former HSBC building at 4 Baxtergate, The Treasury is positioning itself as a hub for quality and discovery. A key highlight of the new partnership is the inclusion of the Balfour Winery collection. Recently named among the World’s Top 100 Vineyards, Balfour is a leader in the English winemaking revolution, and its presence in Whitby marks a significant addition to the local hospitality scene.
To encourage guests to explore these homegrown varieties, The Treasury will offer bespoke wine flights. These tasting sets are designed to guide both enthusiasts and newcomers through different styles, from crisp, refreshing whites to more complex, rich pours.

Mark Appleton, General Manager of The Treasury Whitby, said:
“We’re really excited to be working with Matthew Clark to bring Balfour English wines to The Treasury. English wine has come a long way in recent years, and this is a fantastic opportunity for our guests to discover just how good it can be. Offering wine flights allows people to explore different styles and find something they love, whether they’re already a wine enthusiast or trying English wine for the first time.”
By blending the building’s rich heritage with a modern, innovative drinks programme, The Treasury aims to create a unique experience where guests can enjoy familiar favourites alongside exciting discoveries from English soil.
