Wensleydale Railway has announced additional seating for its sold-out ‘Wensleydale Fryer’ fish and chips trains due to high demand.
Introduced in 2023, the heritage diesel-hauled dining experience offers passengers a scenic journey through the Yorkshire Dales while enjoying locally sourced fish and chips, mushy peas, bread and butter, and unlimited tea or coffee. A bar service is also available.
The Saturday lunchtime service begins on 12 April, with further trains running monthly from May to October. Departing from Leeming Bar at 1.30 pm, the two-hour round trip to Leyburn includes a short break before the return journey. Passengers can also take a free guided tour of Leeming Bar’s restored 1920s station building.
Nick Keegan, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Wensleydale Railway, said: “Tickets for our Wensleydale Fryer fish and chips trains went on sale in January. We had anticipated high demand for these special services and all seven trains had sold out by the beginning of March. We are very pleased to be able to make additional seating available so that more customers can experience our Fryer services. Combining traditional fish and chips with a heritage train journey through the spectacular Yorkshire Dales scenery, the Wensleydale Fryer is a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.”
Ticket prices are £35 per adult and £15 per child, including the rail fare. Booking is essential.
