It seems like yesterday that the Halifax Piece Hall reopened its doors to the public after a multi-million-pound transformation.
People from Halifax and those from further afield were filled with positivity and optimism for the future of Calderdale as a region. And it has not disappointed! Since opening, it has hosted a plethora of top events and introduced a variety of fantastic independent businesses to Halifax.

Spogs & Spice
If you’ve got a sweet tooth – look no further than Spogs & Spice. They’re a charming sweet shop with a massive selection of treats available! What’s more, the shop is styled just like a sweet shop of the past, which is a big boost of nostalgia. On the shelves, you’ll find traditional favourites such as Pear Drops, Midget Gems and everything in between! They’ve got a great range of personalised sweet treats which are the perfect Christmas gift for those who like to indulge in something sugary.
It’s rumoured that an Elf on the Shelf named Ernie terrorises the shop throughout the Christmas period, so keep an eye out for him when you visit!
The Chocolate Box
The Chocolate Box does what it says on the… box. They’re a specialist Chocolate shop, with an enormous and delicious range on offer. As well as their extensive product offering, they’ve got some special personalisable options, and they put real care into their wrapping. Our top pick product is their unique advent calendars which include something a little more luxurious than you’ll find in the supermarkets.
Leaf
The Piece Hall is full of wonderful, eco-concious shops, and no more so than the aptly named Leaf. A shop with a welcoming team, everything they sell is Vegan and has been carefully selected with “care and concern for people, animals and the planet at the heart of the business.” Their shop is delightful with a quirky yet warm atmosphere. If you’re looking for a Vegan Christmas gift, Leaf is the place to be!
Gin Lane Shop
Gin Lane is a super popular Gin bar in Piece Hall which stocks and serves a superb variety of fabulous gins. They also have their very own retail shop in Piece Hall so, if you tried a gin in the bar and want to recreate that memorable drink at home, you can pop in and buy the very same ingredients.
They have over 200 gins available to purchase as well as every prosecco and coffee that is served in their bar. The Gin Lane shop also offers a gift wrapping service so if you are looking for a Christmas gift for a Gin lover, this is the place to go. A handwritten note is also included for that extra personal touch.
