Leeds street food pioneers Manjit’s Kitchen will celebrate their 10th birthday throughout the next few months with a number of collaborations, events, special items and tap takeovers. A beloved Leeds food and drink institution, Manjit’s Kitchen, run by Manjit Kaur and Michael Jameson, has been slowly and carefully built over the last decade from its humble start in a home kitchen with a twitter account to winning street food awards and taking over two sites in Leeds.

Manjit’s Kitchen started with a single tweet – “who would like home cooked Punjabi food delivered to their door?” – Since then, Manjit and Michael have gone from home kitchen to street food pop up, travelling horsebox food van to permanent market site and eventually brick and mortar restaurant, picking up awards, acclaim, tens of thousands of online followers and a dedicated audience of loyal customers along the way.

Highly regarded  for their high quality, good value and delicious vegetarian, Punjabi street food, the Leeds based duo are also known for their crucial work in the establishment of Leeds’ renowned street food scene, as the founders of early street food events and one of the first traders to set up in both Trinity Kitchen and Kirkgate Market food hall.

The pair will mark their 10th birthday across September and October with a number of collaborations, takeovers and special items, celebrating their birthday in a style that matches the way their company has grown and is run – rooted in grassroots collaboration with other members of Leeds’ outstanding food and drink scene.

Alongside the launch of a collaborative beer made especially for Manjit’s Kitchen by exciting small Leeds brewer Horsforth Brewery, the award-winning pair kicked off the celebrations last week when they joined Leeds promoters Super Friendz and The Real Junk Food Project for their ‘Eat Out’ project, creating new dishes from food intercepted on its way to landfill, and launched a new lunch menu on Fridays and Saturdays at their Kirsktall Road site.

Alongside the 10th birthday beer and new Kirkstall lunch menu, Manjit’s Kitchen will be hosting some exciting Leeds indies over the next weeks and months, each taking over the kitchen at Kirkstall Road for an exciting run of collaborative menus alongside numerous tap takeovers with some of Leeds and Yorkshire’s most exciting independent breweries.

Those wanting to join in with any of the 10th birthday celebrations can follow Manjit’s Kitchen socials for further updates! Bookings for the restaurant, collection and delivery and opening hours can all be found at https://www.manjitskitchen.com

Manjit Kaur – Manjit’s Kitchen:

“To be 10 years into Manjit’s Kitchen honestly just feels amazing. I’m so proud of what we’ve built up together over the years! To look back now at what we’ve accomplished, what we’ve been through, the people we’ve employed and brought into our lives is a really incredible thing. We’re really lucky to have this big group of people who have stuck with us through thick and thin and so we’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone over the next little while! We’re working hard on bringing some great people into the kitchen, our friends at Horsforth Brewery have created an amazing Manjit’s 10 beer – just doing what we’ve always done really, working hard with good people to create something we’re proud of”
