Asda has announced that Rotherham will host its latest stand-alone George concept store. Opening at Parkgate Retail Park, the development marks the final George stand-alone launch of 2026.
The transformation converts the existing Asda Living unit into a dedicated fashion and home destination. The new format features expanded womenswear and menswear sections, a larger George Home collection – including small domestic appliances and bedding – and a combined character and toy shop. The store will also stock an exclusive clothing collaboration with broadcaster and former Premier League footballer Micah Richards.
To complete the transformation, the store’s mezzanine floor will close at the end of trading on Thursday 17th September. The entire site will then close at 7pm on Saturday 19th September before officially reopening at 9am on Thursday 1st October.
“We’re excited to bring our stand-alone George store concept to Rotherham and give local customers an even better way to shop our fashion and home collections,” said Karl Doyle, Commercial Director at George. “The way the stores are presented creates an improved shopping experience, giving customers more opportunities to browse and find inspiration.”
Opening celebrations on 1st October will include golden tickets for the first 500 customers who spend £5 or more, offering prizes between £5 and £500. Celebrations continue on Saturday 3rd October with a high-energy cyclone challenge and a live DJ.
The site is the seventh Asda Living location in the UK, and the second in South Yorkshire following Barnsley, to transition into the stand-alone George format.
