Plans for a multi-purpose community and enterprise hub in Catterick Garrison are nearing completion, with North Yorkshire Council set to vote on managing the venue directly ahead of its February 2027 opening.
The Community and Enterprise Building forms the centrepiece of a £21 million town centre regeneration project. Funded by £19 million from the central Government’s Local Regeneration Fund alongside £2 million in match-funding from the council and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, the scheme also delivers upgraded walking and cycling routes, refreshed public spaces, and enhancements to nearby Coronation Park.
On Tuesday 15th September 2026, members of the council’s executive will consider proposals for the authority to run the new hub in-house. A review found that direct council management would save about £120,000 annually compared with third-party operators.
The new facility will feature flexible business units, offices, retail spaces, training suites, event space, and a community kitchen. It will also house a partnership with the Army’s HIVE information service, providing co-located support for military families and civilian residents.
“This exciting new facility has the potential to become a focal point for the community and play an important role in the future of Catterick Garrison,” said Cllr Mark Crane, executive member for open to business at North Yorkshire Council. “It will provide opportunities for local businesses to grow, help people develop new skills, host community events and activities, and create a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.”
“The proposals for us as a council to run the centre will be considered carefully by the executive to ensure that there is the very best value for our taxpayers,” Crane added.
