Leeds is one of the best cities in the UK and has long been a fashion hub. Funnily enough, many people do not associate fashion with Leeds but are in for a real treat this summer. As we have just entered the second half of 2023, Leeds has already hosted several fashion events that will leave you returning for more, and the year isn’t done yet. So far, we have seen innovative new trends, designs that inspire you, and new ideas from up-and-coming designers. Yet, we still have so much more to see. Let us look at the upcoming fashion events in the city of Leeds.  

2023: The Summer of Vintage Pop Up

Let us start with a more relaxed and unknown event, Summer of Vintage. Now, this is quite a remarkable event because you can shop vintage items, and with some luck, you might find a few Diesel t shirts from 2023 and yesteryear. This pop-up is perfect for the fashion lover looking to snap up those rare finds while having a good time. The event features a live DJ and some incredible special offers. Expect to see Y2K fashion and some 90s streetwear, among others.

Leeds International Fashion Festival of Ideas

One of our favourite fashion events because it focuses on fashion, art, and culture, LIFT is one of the few annual events fashion lovers mark on their calendars. LIFT is committed to celebrating renowned and emerging talents and showcasing fashion-forward brands. This year the headliners include Sir Jon Cunliffe, Tom Duff Gordon, actor Christopher Eccleston, and musician Bimmi to name but a few.  

While the idea is to engage on several topics, as mentioned previously, the fashion aspect of the event features glamourous runway shows, awe-inspiring exhibitions, industry talks, and workshops. These provide a platform for designers from all walks of life to share their creations and collections. So, what can you expect? A fusion of creativity with deep dives into how things work, the creative process, and so much more. LIFT is the perfect opportunity to engage with people from all over, as it brings together art lovers, fashion enthusiasts, fashionistas, and industry professionals.

Dior Seasonal Summer Celebration

Christian Dior is one of the most iconic fashion houses in the world. Founded in 1946 in Paris, Dior has been through many transformations, many of which made it what it is today. Participating and enjoying an event hosted by the iconic brand makes complete sense. Cue the Dior Seasonal Summer Celebration. For one night only, the Dior team invites you to indulge in an evening of beauty. You will enjoy some delicious refreshments and a decadent three-course dinner. But that’s not all. Sit back or take some notes, as the evening’s masterclass will focus on makeup trends for summer based on the Riviera look.

2024 

Leeds Fashion Ball

Another iconic event that sees the fashion world, philanthropists, as well as the entertainment industry work together for one heck of an event. What truly stands out about the Leeds Fashion Ball is the fact that it is a charitable event. While the event raises funds for worthy causes, it also celebrates the artistry and craftsmanship of the fashion industry. At this year’s event in April, designers, celebrities, and philanthropists gathered to enjoy an evening of luxury. There were fantastic fashion showcases, as well as exciting live performances. For the 2024 event, attendees can expect much of the same but on a bigger scale. Keep your eyes peeled for the details.

Leeds RAG Fashion Show

The wonderful thing about fashion is that you can get creative. You can share your ideas with the world and be outlandish or subtle. It is your choice. And the Leeds RAG Fashion Show or LRFS is one of many platforms that allow student designers to do just that, get creative. First established 15 years ago, the Leeds RAG Fashion Show is a student-led charity event hosted by the University of Leeds. One of the most highly anticipated events on the fashion calendar, LRFS combines fashion, creativity, originality, and innovation to illuminate important topics. This year’s event took place in February and had some stellar reviews, and if that was anything to go by, then you are in for some great fun and fashion in 2024.

Leeds is a fashion-forward city despite what people may think. It features fashion events throughout the year filled with upcoming and established designers.
