Leeds Christmas Market is championing the next generation of market traders this year by giving Herd & Hive, founded by 2024 Young Market Trader of the Year Libby Ramsden, a dedicated chalet in City Square.
Libby produces sustainable, handmade products from her family farm, including hand-poured beeswax candles, raw honey, and soothing goat’s milk soaps. She said:
“Trading at the Leeds Christmas Market has allowed us to connect with new customers and build crucial brand recognition. So far trade has been great and I can definitely see the benefits for my business.”
Market Place, the award-winning operators of the market, partnered with the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF) to provide the chalet. Nirmal Bassi, Market Manager at Market Place, said:
“Supporting young talent is at the heart of what we do. This initiative shines a light on the creativity and innovation shaping the future of the market industry, and we’re delighted to see it represented here in Leeds.”
Joe Harrison, CEO of the NMTF, added:
“Having a presence at Leeds Christmas Market offers Libby a significant opportunity to reach new audiences, gain experience and grow in confidence. Initiatives like this help ensure markets remain vibrant and relevant for future generations.”
The Leeds Christmas Market features up to 50 traditional chalets offering handcrafted gifts, international flavours, and seasonal treats. The market is open until 6pm on Sunday 21st December.
Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday 10am-7pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am-9pm, and Sunday 11am-6pm. For more information, visit Visit Leeds Winter Season
