Swinton Park Hotel has confirmed the return of Luminescence. The immersive after-dark winter light trail will bring eleven new installations to the 200-acre estate.
Running from Saturday 31st October 2026 to Sunday 21st February 2027, the mile-long outdoor attraction routes visitors through the woodland lakes and historic gardens of the Masham property. The expanded feature set includes “Birdcage Walk”, a pathway lined with 100 illuminated birdcages set to natural birdsong. Guests can also experience a Hollywood-themed “A Night at the Oscars” section, complete with hanging chandeliers and paparazzi lighting effects.
Following an inaugural season that welcomed over 8,000 guests, the estate has doubled the size of its lakeside firepit seating area to accommodate higher seasonal demand. Families can explore interactive installations along the route, including a “Make a Wish” illuminated wishing tree and the “End of the Rainbow”. Firepits offer marshmallow-toasting alongside hot chocolate and mulled wine.
“We welcomed over 8000 guests last year during our first season and this year promises even more than before for guests staying on the Estate or visiting for the day,” said Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, co-owner of Swinton Estate and designer of the trail. “This brings the dark winter evenings to life – we’re really looking forward to it.”
The trail opens from dusk until 8:00 PM every Saturday and Sunday throughout the season. It operates daily during the Christmas and February school holidays, with select Thursday and Friday slots available in December. Peak adult tickets are priced at £19 (£17 off-peak), while child tickets cost £11 peak (£7.50 off-peak). Children under five enter free.
Guests can extend their visit with dining options across Swinton Park Castle and the Terrace at Swinton Country Club. On-site parking is free, dogs on leads are permitted, and the estate has partnered with Access the Dales to offer two complimentary, advance-booked tramper wheelchairs for disabled guests. Tickets are available online via the Swinton Estate website.
