The historic grounds of Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds are set to come alive with the sound of music this summer, as Yorkshire’s leading music and events promoter Futuresound announces Madness as the headline act for the inaugural ‘Live At Kirkstall Abbey’ event on Friday, 26th July 2024. The iconic Ska-pop veterans are poised to deliver a memorable performance, featuring hits from their vast catalog, including tracks from their critically acclaimed album ‘Theatre of The Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie’, alongside timeless classics such as ‘Our House’, ‘It Must Be Love’, and ‘Baggy Trousers’.
The lineup for the evening also boasts an impressive roster of talent, including Leeds’ indie rock favorites The Pigeon Detectives, in what will be their only Leeds show of 2024. The band shared their enthusiasm, saying, “We’re totally buzzing to be playing this huge show in our hometown with music legends, Madness. Special, one-off gigs like this are always such a great occasion and what better backdrop than Kirkstall Abbey? It should be a night to remember!”
Also gracing the stage are The Zutons, celebrating their return with a new album and their first Leeds performance in five years, and the up-and-coming Carlisle quintet Hardwicke Circus, ready to make a significant impact.
‘Live At Kirkstall Abbey’ is the latest initiative by Futuresound, the force behind iconic Yorkshire events such as Live At Leeds and Slam Dunk Festival. Set in the picturesque grounds of the 12th-century Cistercian monastery, this series promises to blend the rich history of Yorkshire with the vibrant energy of live music, offering an unmatched summer experience.
Beyond the opening night, the series continues with a performance from Halifax legends Embrace, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal album ‘Out Of Nothing’, alongside very special guests Ocean Colour Scene, Ash, Sleeper, and Cud, with one more large outdoor show yet to be announced.
