Put your hands up and make some noise because the best of the ‘90s and early noughties pop is coming to Leeds. Whether you lived through those eras and want to step back into a time warp of nostalgia or you just love a cheesy tune, Millennium Square will play host to the golden era of pop on August 6th 2022.
Despite having to re-arrange The Popworld Festival twice due to Covid, the team behind it is determined to ‘bring it all back’ next year. So, if you’ve never had a dream come true, now is your chance with top acts, including the Cheeky Girls, Fatman Scoop, S Club and 5ive, as well as headliner, Peter Andre, who will be performing all his greatest hits, including everyone’s favourite, ‘Mysterious Girl’.
Cha cha slide your way over to Millennium Square from 5.30pm and sing along to some classic tracks while you dance the night away. Yorkshire native, turned killer DJ, Paul chuckle of Chuckle Brothers fame, will be spinning some classic pop anthems in his non-stop set. An extra special mystery guest will be making an appearance later in the night so dust off your best dance moves and get ready to be driven crazy by this classic 90s icon.
Speaking about the biggest pop party Leeds has ever seen, organiser from Stonegate Group, Jonathon Guest, says:
“It’s great that The Popworld Festival is guaranteed to go ahead now. With Covid cases dropping and the vaccination programme making headway, we are really looking forward to giving people one of the biggest pop party experiences around.”
Whilst tier one tickets have all sold out, tier two tickets will be available to buy from Friday 6th August, priced at £27.50. The team behind the festival has also introduced a VIP ticket, priced at £49.95 which includes priority seating, a chance to meet the artists and a goody bag from sponsor, Ciroc vodka.
The one-day festival will run until 11pm, but the night doesn’t stop there, with official Popworld Festival after parties hosted at Popworld Briggate Street, Popworld Cookridge Street and Walkabout, Woodhouse Lane keeping the party going til the early hours.
