A Yorkshire housebuilder has commenced construction on a new £11 million residential development in Birchencliffe following the acquisition of a 2.4-acre land parcel on Yew Tree Road.
Newett Homes is transforming the greenfield site into a 27-home development named Cedar Grove. The project will feature a collection of two, three, four, and five-bedroom homes spanning seven distinct property designs.
Built using traditional-style stone bricks to match the local character, the development will incorporate and fully refurbish the original dry-stone wall surrounding the site. Sustainability is a primary focus for the scheme, with all properties built to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A or above, featuring solar panels and electric vehicle (EV) charging points as standard.
As part of the planning agreements, Newett Homes will invest approximately £240,000 into the local community. The funding is earmarked for local education, public transport improvements, public green spaces, and regional biodiversity enhancements.
Initial groundworks are already underway on the semi-rural site, which sits within commuting distance of both Huddersfield and Halifax. The entire construction process is projected to take roughly 12 months to complete, with the first wave of properties scheduled for market release this month.
