Adrenaline junkies and big-hearted fundraisers alike are being called to take the plunge this summer, as The Prince of Wales Hospice brings back its popular charity abseil. Set to take place at the Enfinium Ferrybridge site 2, participants will descend a thrilling 130 feet, all in aid of supporting local patients and families affected by life-limiting illnesses.
Backed by support from Enfinium, the event promises both excitement and purpose, offering a chance to step out of your comfort zone and raise money for a cause that touches the lives of so many across the community. No prior experience is needed — just a sense of adventure and a willingness to make a difference.
Early birds can sign up before Monday 16 June 2025, and claim a discounted entry fee of £16 per person. The event is expected to be popular, with limited spaces available, so participants are encouraged to register soon to avoid missing out.

Among those already gearing up for the big day is Jill Uttley from Asda Glasshoughton, who has previously abseiled for the hospice and is rallying her colleagues once again. She said: “We are always up for a challenge and mainly because it is for a good cause, to support patients and their families when they need it most.”
Funds raised from the event will go directly to supporting the hospice’s vital work, helping to provide specialist care and comfort for people at the most difficult time in their lives.
