The UK’s biggest and longest-running retro gaming event, the Video Game Market, is returning to Sheffield this June. Following a blockbuster debut last year that attracted 2,800 attendees, organiser Replay Events has officially named the Sheffield market its flagship Yorkshire event.
Taking place at Ponds Forge Leisure Centre, the market offers a massive selection of retro games, vintage consoles, and rare accessories. The move solidifies Sheffield’s status as a national gaming hub; the city is already home to the National Video Game Museum and industry giants like Sumo Digital, with a legacy that stretches back to Gremlin Graphics’ 1984 breakthrough.

The resurgence of “old-school” gaming is a national trend, with data from Back Market showing a 32% rise in retro console sales over the past year. Andy Brown, Managing Director of Replay Events, said: “With Sheffield’s gaming heritage… it was a no-brainer for us to make this our regional flagship event. We’re very excited to return – this time bigger and better!”
Tickets start at just £4 for general entry, though advance tickets are available for collectors looking to beat the crowds and bag the best deals. The event runs from 11am until 4pm, providing five hours of nostalgia-fuelled browsing.
