Yorkshire Children Invited to Design Posters for Aldi’s Food Waste Action Week

To mark Food Waste Action Week (17th-23rd March), Aldi is inviting children in Yorkshire to get creative and design a poster that encourages others to reduce food waste. The competition, which is open to all young residents of the region, gives kids the chance to win a £250 Aldi voucher for their family, as well as the opportunity for their design to be displayed at Aldi’s UK Headquarters.

The competition is part of Aldi’s ongoing commitment to tackling food waste and promoting sustainable shopping habits. This comes after the supermarket reached the impressive milestone of selling one million Surprise Bags through its partnership with Too Good To Go.

Luke Emery, Aldi’s National Sustainability Director, said: “At Aldi, we’re committed to reducing food waste and this competition is a great opportunity to show children how important an issue food waste is. We can’t wait to see the creative designs that everyone comes up with, and we hope the competition can inspire the next generation to think more about how everyday changes can make a big difference.”

The winning designs will be judged by a panel of Aldi’s sustainability experts, and the chosen posters will be proudly displayed at the company’s UK Headquarters to inspire colleagues to do their part in cutting down food waste.

This initiative also ties in with Aldi’s Get Set to Eat Fresh programme, run in partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB, which aims to inspire young people to eat healthily and embrace positive environmental habits.

Parents and teachers can submit entries by email to foodwastecomp@aldi.co.uk, along with the child’s name and county. The competition opens on 10th March and closes on 24th March, so there’s plenty of time for young creative minds to get their designs ready.
