This November, Dobbies’ York store is bringing the Christmas spirit to life with a series of free festive workshops, perfect for anyone looking to add a touch of nature to their holiday celebrations. The hands-on workshops, starting 2nd November, offer families the chance to create garden-inspired gifts and decorations, guided by Dobbies’ expert team.
Dobbies’ popular Grow How workshop series kicks off the fun, beginning Saturday 2nd November and continuing every Wednesday throughout the month at 10:30am and 3:30 pm. These sessions focus on crafting thoughtful gifts from garden finds, with demonstrations on making natural wreaths, centrepieces, and even potpourri, all from foraged materials. Each project blends sustainability with creativity, making it an ideal way to add a personal touch to your Christmas gifting.
For the little ones aged 3 to 10, the Little Seedlings Club will host a special workshop on Sunday 3rd November, with morning sessions dedicated to children. Young gardeners will explore the magic of the changing seasons and create their own festive gift: a decorated pot with a planted bulb, ready to bloom as a surprise for someone special. Along with the chance to create a unique gift, children will enjoy Christmas-themed stories, games, and activities, making it a magical way to learn about nature.
Ayesha Nickson, Dobbies’ Events Programme Manager, said: “Our free workshops in York are a fantastic way to get creative with natural materials and make something meaningful for loved ones this Christmas. The Little Seedlings Club is especially magical for children, as they learn about nature and the joy of giving.”
