They say laughter is the best medicine and comedy lovers in Leeds are now in for an extra dose from the city’s best-loved and longest-established comedy club.
The HiFi Comedy Club, which has been running its hugely popular show every Saturday night since 2001, is now adding a new Saturday afternoon performance to its schedule.
Launching on January 25, the ‘afternoon’ comedy session will take place every Saturday at 2pm and will play host to three of the best stand-up comedians from around the UK.
The launch show will feature a stellar, multi-award-winning line-up including hip hop comedian, MC Hammersmith; the undisputed king of the black British comedy circuit, Slim; and comic, writer and actor, Andre Vincent.

Established in 2001, HiFi’s Comedy Club is Leeds’s finest independent stand-up comedy event. It has been the launch pad for many comedians over the years with the likes of Alan Carr, Paul Sinha, John Bishop, Katherine Ryan, Reginald D Hunter, Tom Stade, Jason Manford, Jon Richardson, Sarah Millican, Joe Lycett, Russell Howard and Chris Ramsey all performing at the venue during the early days of their careers.

The new afternoon session has been introduced following demand from the club’s long-term fans and to help make the shows more accessible to audiences who prefer a daytime gig option.
HiFi Club manager, Nicole Cartwright, said: “As an independent venue we are really proud of what we’ve created with the HiFi Comedy Club and to have hosted so many fantastic acts over the years. What started as a small show in 2001, has now grown into a hugely popular event with a cult-like following and tickets selling out every week!
“Now in our 24th year, we want to change things up a bit and bring some laughter to even more people with our Saturday afternoon sessions. These shows will be ideal for people on a day trip to the city, special occasions or just simply for the people of Leeds to come and have a giggle on a Saturday afternoon.”
Doors for the Saturday afternoon comedy club open at 2pm with the first comedian onstage at approximately 3pm. Tickets are £15 and can be purchased from Fatsoma. For more information visit https://thehificlub.co.uk/
