This spring, one of the most cherished novels of all time arrives in Sheffield as Little Women takes to the stage at the Lyceum Theatre from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 10 May. Anne-Marie Casey’s brand new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic promises a captivating rendition of a story that has touched hearts for generations.
First published in the 19th century, Little Women was an immediate critical and commercial success. Inspired by Alcott’s own experiences growing up, the novel tells the enduring story of the March sisters—tomboy Jo, beautiful Meg, sensitive Beth, and spoilt Amy—as they navigate the challenges of the American Civil War, bound together by unshakeable love and family ties.

This new stage version brings together a stellar cast. Belinda Lang, known for her roles in Sister Boniface Mysteries and 2point4 Children, stars alongside Honeysuckle Weeks of Foyle’s War, Jack Ashton from Call the Midwife, and Grace Moloney from The Great. Their performances promise to bring warmth, strength and emotion to a tale that remains as powerful today as it was over 150 years ago.
Audiences will be invited into a world of sisterhood, ambition and courage as the March girls grow into womanhood, each forging their own path. Whether it’s Jo’s boldness, Meg’s grace, Beth’s quiet strength, or Amy’s determined spirit, each character offers something timeless and true.

Still as relevant today, Little Women is a celebration of women’s strength and spirit, showing that they can be bold, persistent and confident in shaping their present and future. It’s a powerful story of growing up, facing hardship, and discovering who you are, wrapped in unforgettable moments of joy, loss and love.
