Ey Up Puddin

18D Lydgate, Halifax HX3 7EJ

This family-run cafe opened in 2019. The year before, owners Allen and Julie had successfully run a business selling colourful snow cone treats. Their decision to expand and open their licensed cafe, Ey Up Puddin, was a wise one. Whilst still serving their fun snow cones, which are always a hit with the kids, they have extended their offering to include breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and a whole range of sweet treats. Open daily from 9 am, they offer decent homecooked food in a laidback and comfortable venue. Start your day with a hearty Full English breakfast or opt for something sweeter and tuck into their topped Belgian waffles or freshly made crepes. A friendly, family-run independent cafe offering no-frills, no-nonsense food.

Jamocha

3-5 Northgate, Halifax HX1 1UR

Open Monday to Saturday from 8 am until 4 pm, Jamocha is an artisan coffee shop serving breakfast, brunch and lunch. Family-run and boasting fabulously funky interiors, it’s a great little place to stop off and refuel before exploring the sights of Halifax. Besides their “tropical funk” decor, the focus here is very much on top-quality ingredients so expect freshly prepared food, made using only the finest produce available.

On their menu, you’ll find a whole host of tasty treats including topped toasts, granola, smoked salmon bagels, indulgent homemade cakes and pastries plus a long list of speciality drinks. Their White Hot Chocolate is much talked about and would go marvellously well with one of their beautiful croissants.

True North

1 Bowling Mill Courtyard, Dean Clough Mills, Halifax HX3 5AZ

Another great eatery set in the historic Dean Clough Mills is True North. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am, it’s a super stylish family restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast and brunch menu is pretty impressive and features some utterly irresistible offerings. You’ll find all the expected breakfast dishes like granola, hot sandwiches and the traditional Full English alongside dishes that have more recently become associated with brunch. American-style Pancakes, Croque Monsieur, Breakfast Hash and Breakfast burgers are all there to tempt you and can be washed down with cocktails should you so wish. We particularly like the sound of the True North Scotch Egg which is served with asparagus, Prosciutto ham and Hollandaise sauce. Divine! Prices for brunch at True North are between £6 and £10.

Alibi Bar & Restaurant

The Piece Hall, Halifax HX1 1RB

Alibi is located within Somerset House, a Grade II listed Georgian mansion.
