Located in the pretty village of Skipsea, this family-friendly Yorkshire Coast campsite is ideally situated for those wishing to enjoy relaxing coastal walks and get that little bit closer to nature. At Skipsea Sands, you’ll find everything you need on this site including a bar and restaurant, shop, indoor pool, gym, sauna, fishing lake, mini-golf, children’s playground, soft play area and an entertainment arcade. It’s in a quiet area but there is plenty to keep the kids entertained in the site and the seaside resorts of Hornsea and Bridlington just a short drive away.

Humble Bee Farm

Set in a rural location close to Scarborough, Humble Bee Farm offers a peaceful family retreat. The family-run working farm has much to offer despite being one of the area’s smaller, independent sites. A real countryside experience is on offer here but it’s close enough to some of Yorkshire’s favourite resorts to provide you with the perfect family seaside break.

This site is surrounded by beautiful scenery and there are a number of excellent nature trails to enjoy on the site. With it being a working farm, there are also opportunities to meet some of their lovely animals like their pigs, hens and sheepdogs.

At Humble Bee Farm they have some wonderful wigwam cabins, Normadic yurts and bell tents for those who prefer glamping to camping.

Beacon Farm

Home to the delicious Beacon Farm Ice Cream, this lovely, spacious campsite is super family-friendly. In fact, they make it clear that they will not tolerate late-night drinking and antisocial behaviour so, if you’re looking for a site where you’re guaranteed a pleasant, family holiday, this is the site for you.

This site is close to the historic harbour town of Whitby with its famous abbey, maritime visitor attractions and traditional seaside amusements. As well as all the essential facilities, on Beacon Farm campsite you will find a children’s play area, an indoor bouncy castle and, of course, the Beacon Farm Ice Cream Parlour and Tea Rooms.

Electric tent pitches for up to 4 people will cost you £25 per night. Additional guests are charged £2 per night and there is no charge for dogs.

Centenary Way

Centenary Way is just a 10-minute walk from Filey beach and a 15-minute walk from Filey town centre. Set in a stunning location, this Yorkshire Coast campsite is one of the smaller and more intimate sites in the area, but still offers larger pitches than most.

On the site, you will find all the expected essential facilities as well as a shop, a children’s play area and dog walking facilities. There is also a fishing lake nearby. One of their main attractions is their Fairy Tea Garden but, sadly, this will remain closed for the season due to the Covid pandemic. Regardless, it’s a lovely, well laid out site which is close to one of Yorkshire’s prettiest seaside towns.

South Cliff Holiday Park

A friendly holiday park and campsite just metres away from one of the best beaches in Yorkshire, South Cliff boasts 5-star toilet and shower facilities, a large adventure play park, a woodland area, fish & chip shop, mini-mart and fully serviced pitches. There is also an excellent leisure complex onsite containing a bar, restaurant, amusement arcade and a small indoor play area.

This family-friendly Yorkshire Coast campsite is just just a short walk away from Bridlington, where many a day can be spent enjoying sun, sea, sand and all the traditional attractions associated with the British seaside.

Judges Court, York

Once the lodgings for Judges in the historical city of York, this Grade II listed Georgian building is now a contemporary boutique hotel. Although tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city’s main streets, it’s just a few steps away from York’s top attractions and wonderful shopping district.

Each of the 15 bedrooms is individually designed and decorated with rich Georgian colours and bespoke furniture. All are equipped with HD TV, Roberts radio, Nespresso coffee machine, iPod speaker and docking station, drench shower, stocked mini bar and luxurious toiletries.

Manor House Lindley, Huddersfield

This beautifully restored manor house opened its doors to guests in 2018. It is now a leading boutique restaurant with 11 uniquely designed rooms, offering the very best in comfort and luxury. There are three room categories – Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. As you can imagine, the amount of space and level of luxury alters with each grade. Although, these grades are appropriately named to reflect the fact that just because Gold is worth less than Diamond, it doesn’t mean it isn’t fabulous!

Our favourite room has to be room three (Diamond). This impressive suite covers the whole length of the attic and has a staircase leading from the four poster bedroom, to a stunning private bathroom suite with an elegant roll top bath and an spacious adjoining wet room.

As regards to facilities at Manor House Lindley, you’ll pretty much find everything you need for a relaxing weekend. Not content with just one bar and restaurant for guests, this stylish boutique hotel has three bars and two restaurants, each differing in style. There’s also a great studio and gym in the hotel so you can work out before you wind down!

Run by husband and wife team, Chris and Sue, Hesketh Farm Park still operates as a working farm with over 1,000 livestock on-site. Farm parks are immensely popular with families and this gem of a place really is one of the best in the area. There is much to see and do so you could easily spend a whole day there without the little ones getting bored.

At specific times throughout the day, the team at Hesketh Farm Park provide opportunities for you and the kids to get hands-on with the various animals living on the farm. A really wonderful experience for children, especially toddlers and pre-schoolers who seem to have a natural fondness for all things fluffy! There’s calf feeding, donkey feeding, pony brushing, egg collecting, and when the lambs are still young, you can feed them too. The animal encounters do not end here! They’ve also got giant tortoises, pigs and piglets, goats, hens and chicks, ducks, guinea pigs, donkeys, a horse, and beautiful Shetland ponies.

Once you’ve met all the animals of Hesketh Farm Park, you can enjoy your own refreshments at one of their indoor or outdoor picnic areas. They also have a great on-site cafe serving hot and cold drinks, ice-creams, home baking, light bites, and snacks. As regards to playing, they have an excellent outdoor play area where the kids can climb, swing, slide and build sandcastles when the weather allows. Farmer Chris also offers tractor rides which are a great way of teaching the kids about life on a working farm. Once they’ve done all there is to do outside, their inside play area offers more playground equipment plus pedal tractors and a giant maze.

Admission prices for 2019 are £6.00 for adults, £6.50 for children and £3.50 for under 2’s. Babies under the age of 1 can enter for free and the farm is accessible for prams. They also have two baby changing rooms and a microwave is available for heating baby food.

Saltaire Brewery

Saltaire Brewery is based in Bradford and has been a great success since it was founded in 2005. It’s recently been rebranded to make it more accessible to a wider audience.

Their beers can be found in many pubs across the country. They brew a wide range of beers, including their flagship Saltaire Blonde, which is perhaps their best-known beer.

Their brewery has a fantastic bar area which regularly hosts events, including their monthly beer club, which is popular with locals and draws beer lovers from across Yorkshire.

Northern Monk Brew Co

The Old Flax Store, Marshalls Mill, Marshall St, Leeds LS11 9YJ

Northern Monk Brew Co is one of the most cutting-edge breweries in Yorkshire, based in a Grade II listed building in Leeds. They have an extensive range of beers, which cater to all tastes. Their story began in 2013 at The Sparrow Bier Cafe in Bradford in 2013.

Starting with a modest investment of £5,000, they have since exploded onto the Yorkshire beer scene and their beers can be found in many pubs across the region and throughout the UK. We’re particularly fond of their branding, which is unique, stylish and helps them stand out on the shelves!

Our favourite beer:

Eternal – their flagship beer. It’s a session IPA “low in abv but high in hops” (alc 4.1%)

Salamander Brewing Company

22 Harry St, Bradford BD4 9PH

The Salamander Brewing Co. was founded in 1999. Their small brewery is a former pie factory,  situated just a couple of miles east of Bradford city centre. One of the orginal founders, Dan Gent is a true expert in the brewing industry. Prior to setting up Salamander Brewing Co. he worked as head brewer for a number of other companies. He even has a brewing-related PhD.

They have brewed hundreds of beers over the years and they keep on adding to their range to tempt the taste buds of their loyal customers. Their beers are available at a wide range of establishments across Yorkshire, including North Bar in Leeds, The Fat Cat in Sheffield and The Fleece Inn, Haworth.

Our favourite beer:

We really like their Golden Salamander. It’s a golden premium ale with a refreshing citrus hops flavour. It won a silver medal at the Great British Beer Festival back in 2011 and has remained a firm favourite with their customers.

Black Sheep Brewery

The Black Sheep Brewery can be found in Masham in North Yorkshire. It was established in 1991 and is a well-known brand among many pubs across the region as well as on a national level.

Perhaps best known for its well-hopped bitters, The Black Sheep brewery offers a brewery tour and also consists of a bar & bistro and a shop.

You can’t  beat a pint of well-kept Black Sheep Ale, which is 4.4% . It’s the go to beer of choice from many beer lovers in Yorkshire.

Little Valley Brewery

Little Valley Brewery was founded in 2005 on the Pennine moorland of Cragg Vale in West Yorkshire. The inspiration behind the venture lays in Nepal in 1999, where Wimvan de Spek (a master brewer), and Sue Cooper, who worked as a community development practitioner, met.

As their relationship and passion for beer grew, they moved back to the UK and set about creating the Little Valley Brewery. Their range of beers is eclectic and they have something available for all tastes. They’ve recently rebranded but they’re still a very recognisable brand.

Timothy Taylor

Knowle Spring Brewery, Queen’s Rd, Keighley BD21 1AW

Timothy Taylor’s is one of the oldest breweries on this list. It was established in Keighley in 1858 before moving to their present site”The Knowle Spring” in 1863. They cite their success and longevity to their ethos of not accepting any less than the best.

They’ve won countless awards in their long history, including CAMRA’s Beer of the Year and the Brewers’ Championship “Draught Beer Cup.” Although they’re already a well-established brand, they’re going from strength to strength and are not scared to experiment with new ideas!

Atom Beers

Atom Beers are a fantastic company which focuses on the science behind creating an exceptional beer. Although they’ve only been in business since 2014, they’ve made a big impact, receiving rave reviews from fans.

They’re extremely passionate, and their back to basics, minimalist branding is refreshingly simple  and really allows them to stand out on the pumps and shelves. Scarborough Brewery is a family owned micro-brewery operating on the Yorkshire Coast in the seaside town of Scarborough.

Having been in operation since 2009, they’ve developed an eclectic and ever changing range of beers, trying their hand at various different blends and producing delightful results.

You can find them in craft beer bars and pubs all over Yorkshire. Their branding, as you may expect from a seaside based company has a distinctive nautical theme with a creative, colourful twist. Their range covers everything from Porter to Golden Pale Ale and everything in between.

Magic Rock Brewing

Magic Rock Brewing really pops on the shelves due to their unusual, dare I say “quirky” and impactful branding. It screams creativity and what’s even more impressive, is that the creativity of their artwork is mirrored in the taste and execution of their beers. They started out in Huddersfield in 2011 and have always focused on delivering great beers. 

The success of Magic Rock Brewing resulted in them moving to a bigger facility which features a 4,000 sqft Tap room and canning facility. If you’ve not tried their beers yet, what’re you waiting for!

Rudgate Brewery

Rudgate Brewery Ltd , 2 Centre Park, Marston Moor Business Park, Tockwith, York YO26 7QF

Rudgate Brewery was established in 1992 and its original home was a former ammunition building at RAF Marston Moor Airfield. The name of the brewery comes from the roman road ‘rudgate’ which runs through the airfield. This road led the Vikings through the Vale as they defeated the Romans and the Viking-themed branding of Rudgate Brewery pays homage to this. 

The brewery has  expanded and developed into a more modern facility since 1992, and the brand has received several industry awards including the CAMRA Overall Champion of Beer in 2009.

In celebration of their 25th anniversary, Rudgate launched their Oak Aged Ruby Ale. It’s a rich and nutty ale with an ABV of 5.6%

Kirkstall Brewery

100 Kirkstall Rd, Leeds LS3 1HJ

During the 12th century, Cistercian monks founded Kirkstall Abbey and began the area’s brewing legacy with the construction of their brewhouse. In the 19th century, the old Kirkstall Brewery started life, following the traditions laid down by the monks of the abbey. Today’s Kirkstall Brewery was established in 2011, near to the locations of both of Kirkstall’s original breweries but has since moved to a more modern facility.

They have had a truly exciting year, launching new beers and new experiences for their customers, including a Brewery Tap that enables people to try beer fresh from their brewery.

Our favourite beer:

Dissolution IPA was brewed in memory of the dissolution of Kirkstall Abbey by Henry VIII in 1539. It’s a classic india pale ale with a hoppy kick and a citrus finish.

BAD Co

After a stint travelling the USA, head brewer of Bad Co returned to North Yorkshire armed with a vast knowledge of brewing. After successfully testing his concoctions in the Blind Jack’s pub in Knaresborough Paul teamed up with David Brown, a local businessman and set about creating the brand of beers which is now available across the UK. 

Since founding in 2014, the Bad Co has enjoyed great success, winning the covetted Gold Award for Overall Best Beer at York Beer and Cider Festival with their Comfortably Numb beer.

Bad Co is another exceptional example of how branding can make a beer stand out, their beers have a subtle rock n roll feel, which musters up thoughts of the open roads of the USA and is exceptionally cool.

The York Brewery was founded back in 1996 within the historic city of York. It is among the top tourist attractions in the city which attracts many visitors each year. There ales are enjoyed in pubs across the UK and have won many awards, both locally and nationally.

Brass Castle Brewery was founded in 2011 and is based in Malton. They made a big splash when they burst on to the scene, and won Champion Beer at the York CAMRA Beer Festival just two months after they launched.

The brewery is open to visitors who can vist throughout the week. They produce vegan and vegetarian-friendly beers and also produce gluten-free recipes.

Yorkshire Heart Vineyard and Brewery is based out of Nun Monkton, a village between Harrogate and York.

The family-run company produces fine English wines as well as a range of easy drinking craft beers, which they produce with the intent of exhibiting the true taste of Yorkshire. They welcome visitors and host vineyard tours and tastings.

Founded in 2003, Wold Top Brewery is based high on the Yorkshire Wolds “where the hills roll down to the North Sea.” It’s a family run business which is run by a family with a rich farming history in the area. They pride themselves on brewing superior quality beer from their home-grown barley.

Their farm extends 600 acres and in order to diversify their farmland, they began brewing their own beer… to wonderful effect! Since then, they’ve won an array of awards and have developed a big reputation for producing great quality beers.

The Horsetown Beer Company is found within the beautiful North Yorkshire town of Malton. 

They boast a range of 10 real ale beers designed with the idea of celebrating the horse racing history of the region. Their beers are named after famous places and horses of the region.

Kelham Island Brewery

23 Alma St, Sheffield S3 8SA

Kelham Island Brewery is one of the most well known breweries on this list. It was built in 1990 in the beer garden of a pub in Sheffield, the Fat Cat. 

They were the first new independant brewery in Sheffield for nearly a century, and have made a big impact across Yorkshire and beyond. 

Since then, they’ve grown exponetially, from their humble beginnings in the beer garden of a pub to over 100 brewers barrels in their new facility, meaning that their beers are now enjoyed across more pubs than ever.

Bridgehouse Brewery

Bridgehouse Brewery began life within the Worth Valley as the Ryburn Brewery in Sowerby Bridge in the 80s. Harold Coburn who was the brewer at Ryburn moved to its new site in 2010 and now produces a core range of 8 beers along with a number of seasonal beers such as the Pumpkin Beer and Rudolph’s Ruin. Their beers are available in pubs across the north and are stocked in Wetherspoons, too.

What’s the tallest building in Yorkshire?

Bridgewater Place | Leeds | 112 metres

Bridgewater Place is the tallest building in Yorkshire. It stands at a whopping 112 metres, towering above every other building in the city. It was built in 2007 and is used as both a residential and commercial business. It’s been somewhat controversial over the year as its unusual shape accelerates the wind in the area and the nearby roads are often closed to avoid accidents.

The Plaza Tower  | Leeds | 106 metres

The Sky Plaza stands at 37 storeys and is a residential skyscraper in Arena Quarter. Although it’s not the tallest building in Leeds, it’s the 2nd tallest student accommodation building in the world. Word started on the building in 2007 and was completed in 2009.

St Pauls Tower | Sheffield | 101 metres

The 3rd tallest building in Yorkshire, St Paul’s Tower is an upscale residential development which was completed in 2011.  Although it’s technically the tallest building in Sheffield, the Arts Tower has a higher roof due to being built on higher ground. 

Opal Tower | Leeds | 90 metres

With 25 storeys, Opal Tower serves as student accommodation, it was completed in 2008 and consists of 25 storeys. 

Pinnacle (West Riding House) | Leeds | 80 metres

Pinnacle (formerly known as West Riding House) dates back to 1973 and was officially the tallest building in Leeds up until 2005. It includes retail units and offices as well as housing a small multi-storey car park. 

Arts tower | Sheffield | 78 metres

Arts Tower is one of the oldest buildings on the list, being completed in 1966 and is owned by the University of Sheffield. Its design is renowned architecturally and was described as “the most elegant university tower block in Britain of its period.) The building was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

Park Plaza Hotel | Leeds | 77 metres

Park Plaza Hotel is a tower block in Leeds near the train station. It was also opened in 1966 and was redesigned in 2004 to house the four star Park Plaza Hotel. It was the tallest building in Leeds for just 6 years until being surpassed by West Riding House.

Tower North Central | Leeds | 77 metres

Tower North Central, or Arena Point as it’s now known is a 77 metre office tower which has 20 floors. It’s exactly the same size as the Park Plaza hotel and is used as office space. It was built in 1967 before being refurbished in 2003.

Candle House | Leeds | 75 metres

Candle house is a peculiar looking building found beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the River Aire. It was built in 2009 and is used for a variety of uses, including housing a popular bar and restaurant.

K2 | Leeds | 74 metres

Completed in 1972, K2 is a residential tower block found in the city centre. It has a mixture of uses, including a number of bars. It was originally built as Dudley House and was an office block occupied by Leeds City Council. It was redeveloped and reclad in the early 2000s. Interestingly, it was once home to Leeds own Hard Rock Cafe.

Cottingley Towers |Leeds |  72 metres

Cottingley Towers is a high rise tower block of rented accommodation on top of a hill in Cottingley, Leeds.It was built in 1972 and was refurbished in 1989. It was once considered the tallest residential building in Europe.

Broadcasting Tower | Leeds | 70 metres

Broadcasting Tower is a university building in Woodhouse Lane, Leeds and forms part of Leeds Beckett University. It was designed by Stirling Prize-winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley and is well known for its unusual shape and rust-like appearance. It was officially opened in 2009.

Leeds Town Hall is one of the most iconic buildings in Leeds. It was designed by Cuthbert Broderick, who also designed the Corn Exchange. It was opened in 1858 and is used for many things in 2018, including a myriad of great events.

Clarence House | Leeds | 66 metres

Clarence House stands at 66 metres and consists of over 200 apartments and 6 retail units. It is the final residential phase of the Clarence Dock scheme, which brought the total number of apartments to over 1000. It was opened in 2007.

Velocity Tower | Sheffield | 66 metres 

Velocity Tower was completed in 2010 and consists of 22 storeys which overlooks Sheffield City Centre. It houses apartments. An application to develop the building into 36 storeys was rejected by Sheffield City Council, although plans to develop it to 30 storeys are underway.

Bradford City Hall | Bradford | 66 metres

Bradford City Hall is a Venetian Gothic style building which was opened in 1873. It’s an impressive looking building which has many intricate details and is known for its landmark bell/clock tower.

West Point | Leeds | 65 metres

West Point (once known as Royal Mail House) stands at 65 metres and is a residential tower block with over 350 residential units. It was once occupied by the Royal Mail before the old building was mostly demolished in 2003 before being redeveloped into the building we see today.

Sheffield Town Hall | Sheffield | 61 metres

Sheffield Town Hall was built in 1897 and was opened by Queen Victoria. It was designed by architect E.W Mountford and has been developed various times over the years. It’s a grand and intriguing building with surrounding buildings such as the peace gardens making it one of the most visited buildings in Sheffield.

Royal Hallamshire Hospital | Sheffield | 61 metres 

Royal Hallamshire Hospital consists of over 850 beds and has was founded in 1971.  It was designed by Adams, Holden and Pearson over two phases. It’s the third biggest building in Sheffield.

Cooper King Distillery – Dry Gin

Cooper King Distillery, near York, unite state-of-the-art vacuum distillation with the traditional copper pot method to produce a gin which has “incredible savoury lemongrass flavours, a silky mouthfeel and delicate floral notes.”

For every bottle of gin they sell, 1 square metre of native English woodland is planted through their Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust partnership. That alone is a great reason to buy a bottle of their Gin (as if the beautiful bottle isn’t reason enough!) and they recommend that you try it neat before adding your mixers!

Whittaker’s Pink Particular Gin

Whittaker’s Gin is produced by the family-run, Harrogate Distillery, on Harewell House Farm in Nidderdale. The artisian, small-batch gin uses naturally-sourced water from their own land, along with local Hawthorne Berries and Bog Myrtle.

The Pink Particular Gin is wonderfully aromatic with flavours of cardamon, lemon citrus and pink peppercorns. It should be served neat or with just a dash of tonic.

Premium Harrogate Gin

The first batch of gin from the Harrogate Tipple Distillery was released at RHS Harlow Carr in October 2016. Originally produced in an old Smokehouse in the centre of Harrogate, Premium Harrogate Gin is now distilled at Harrogate Tipple’s new distillery on the Ripley Castle Estate.

If you live locally, you can order a bottle and have it hand delivered to you by their little van (affectionately known as ‘Tiny Tipple’) at no extra cost.  In addition to their Premium Gin, they also produce Blueberry and Gooseberry flavoured Yorkshire gins which sound absolutely scrumptious!

JacqSon Original Dry Gin

JacqSon Gin is named after the mother and son team, Jacqueline and Sam, who produce it in Huddersfield. The inspiration for the gin came during a shared gin appreciation afternoon when both were taken aback by the vast differences between brands.

Flavours and ingredients were heavily researched before they settled on what are now, the two botanicals fundamental to the taste of Jacqson Original Gin – locally grown rhubarb and liquorice.

Leeds Gin

Distilled in the centre of Leeds, aptly named ‘Leeds Gin’ incorporates some of Yorkshire’s finest botanical ingredients including Yorkshire forced rhubarb from E.Oldroyd’s in Leeds.

The first batch of Leeds Gin went on sale in 2016 and is now stocked by numerous shops, bars, and restaurants across the county. Serve with tonic water and a twist of orange peel for a classic G & T.

Sir Robin of Locksley

Sir Robin of Locksley® Distilled Artisan Gin is produced by Locksley Distilling Co. in Sheffield and named after the legendary Robin Hood. It took them 8 months and more than a hundred distillations to find the perfect recipe. Batch no.61 proved to be everything they had aimed for and this was bottled and branded as their Sir Robin of Locksley gin.

They describe the spirit as being a blend of traditional botanicals “with more delicate infusions of Elderflower, Dandelion and Pink Grapefruit.

Masons Dry Yorkshire Gin – Lavender Edition

Masons are probably one of the most recognisable brands on the list. No doubt you’ve seen their “The Original” behind numerous bars and knocked back a few during the warm weather (where did that go?). However, there are two very different editions of Mason’s gin available and they both sound equally as delicious – Lavender and Tea.

The favourite from this particular brand is their Lavender Edition, which promises dry lavender notes on the nose and candied lavender on the palette.

Raisthorpe Oak Aged Dry Gin

Raisthorpe Manor were famous for their liqueurs way before they started to produce and sell their Raisthorpe Distilled Dry Gin. They made homemade Raspberry Gin Liqueur from their country kitchen and served it to guests at Raisthorpe Flyers.

Using mineral water from the ancient springs beneath their land, they now produce two versions of gin in addition to their range of tasty liqueurs. Raisthorpe Oak-Aged Gin is their traditionally distilled gin that is rested in oak barrels to give it smooth and mellow flavour.

Rare Bird London Dry Gin

Rare Bird Distillery is housed in a Grade II listed, former stable block in Malton, North Yorkshire. Rare Bird’s gin is crafted in their specially commissioned, 300-litre copper still, which takes pride of place at the centre of the distillery.

Their London Dry Gin is distilled with 11 botanicals from across the globe, including hibiscus, green pepper and rosemary. Best served with tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit.

Slingsby London Dry Gin

Slingsby London Dry Gin was created by Spirit of Harrogate Founders, Marcus Black and Mike Carthy. Inspired by the story of William Slingsby, who discovered Harrogate’s Tewit Well in 1571, they wanted to produce something that would celebrate the town’s heritage as a spa town, visited by many for the supposed medicinal qualities of its water.

Over 24 botanicals are combined to make Slingsy Gin, including primrose, rosehip and Taylors of Harrogate Tea.

Hedgerow Gin

Sloemotion is a small family business run from Green Farm in the village of Barton-le-Willows. Passionate about the countryside and the wildlife which inhabit it, the team at Sloemotion hand-pick the botanicals from local hedgerows. Their first gin was made with the sloe berries from their blackthorn hedges, which are rarely eaten by birds and small mammals due to their bitter taste.

Their more recent offering, Hedgerow Gin, is crafted in small batches and brings together the flavours of crab apple, nettle leaf, sloes, elderflowers, and rosehip. Sloemotion recommends serving this with a dash of tonic and a sprig of thyme.

Sheeps Eye Gin

According to their website, “The Lickerish Tooth was born from the minds of two drunk men, and a wife who went along with it”. The people behind this quirk brand have a fascination with the history of the plague and a love of the play ‘Guys and Doll’, so everything they produce, somehow pays homage to one or the other.

Their signature gin is their Sheeps Eye Gin which is a unique blend of 10 botanicals including celery seed, black pepper and thyme. Soft and slightly floral on the nose with an intense flavour of juniper.

Lemon & Thyme Flavoured Gin

The Little Red Berry Company are a multi-award winning company based near Ripon. They have been producing alcoholic liqueurs and flavoured gins since 2011 when they took their first Yorkshire gins to Otley Show for locals to sample.

Their Lemon & Thyme flavoured gin is a traditional London Dry Gin which combines Yorkshire spring water with organic lemons and fresh Yorkshire thyme. Perfect poured over ice and served with a sprig of mint!

Sheffield Dry Gin

Sheffield Dry Gin is distilled by True North Brew Company is in the first gin to be distilled and bottled in Sheffield for more than a century. It’s produced in small batches in their handmade copper still, imported from Portual.

Alongside traditional botanicals,  Sheffield Dry Gin is distilled with a somewhat unusual combination of fennel, cardamon, gentian root, grapefruit, lemon peel, honey and a dash of Hendersons Relish!

Purple Ram

Yorkshire Dales Gin Distillery is a family-run distillery near Richmond, producing some great handcrafted gins. All their spirits are distilled using ancient mineral water from Swaledale and local botanicals.

All of their Yorkshire gins are quadruple distilled and 100% vapour infused and they all sound equally delicious. We particularly like the sound of ‘Purple Ram’ which is described as having  “A sweet nose of spicy orange, a smooth citrus palate and a balanced juniper finish.”

Spirit of Masham

The Spirit of Masham distillery is owned by Cork and Cases and located on a small business park just outside Masham. It is open to the public so visitors can learn about the gin-making process and see the copper alembic still, which is used to create their “Spirit of Masham Gin”.

A unique flavoured gin with an aromatic nose, Spirit of Masham is distilled using Cork and Cases very own Masala Chai Tea. The addition of hops gives the gin a lemon finish.

Hooting Owl Veterans Gin

Hooting Owl Veterans Gin is produced at an artisian distillery at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. Hooting Owl Distillery is based in the historic Barmby Moor House – an elegant Georgian building which was a famous coaching house during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Their Veterans Gin is distilled using 14 botanicals including Grapefruit Peel, Kafir Lime, Angelica Root and Mountain ash. It is aged for three months before bottling to aid smoothness and has an impressive ABV of 50%.

York Gin Cocoa

The York Gin Company was founded by four friends who share a love of gin and a passion for their historic city. York Gin was the very first to be distilled in the city of York and despite being on sale for just 6 months, it is one of the most popular Yorkshire gins on the Summer Tasting Menu at London Gin Club, Soho.

York Gin Cocoa is distilled using cocoa beans from York Cocoa Works to give it a unique and intensely satisfying flavour along with the unmistakable aroma of chocolate. A wonderfully fitting tribute to York’s history of chocolate production.

Addingham Fruit Liqueurs

Addingham Fruit Liqueurs is a small family run business, set up by Fiona Mann in Addingham, near Ilkley. Fiona was introduced to Sloe Gin by her late father-in-law and soon realised that you can “add any fruit to any spirit base”. After much encouragement and support from family and friends, she began experimenting with locally foraged fruits.
