Northern Ballet has announced the latest addition to its award-winning children’s repertoire with Robin Hood, an adventurous new dance production created specifically for young audiences.
Choreographed by Northern Ballet Soloist Heather Lehan, the 40-minute performance follows Robin Hood and Maid Marian as they outwit the greedy Sheriff of Nottingham, using friendship and determination to overcome unexpected challenges. Designed as an accessible introduction to live performance, the show features live music, traditional folk influences, and character-led storytelling.
The production marks Lehan’s first full commission for Northern Ballet and her debut creating work for children, following recent choreography featured in the Royal Ballet & Opera’s International Draft Works.

“Drawing on traditional folk music and medieval influences, we’re creating a production that feels adventurous, whimsical, and full of heart,” said choreographer Heather Lehan. “It’s a privilege to be given both the opportunity and the creative freedom by my director, Federico Bonelli, and to collaborate with such a talented team to bring this timeless legend to life.”
Robin Hood will premiere at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre in Leeds in February 2027 before embarking on a national UK tour through spring 2027. The tour includes regional Yorkshire dates in Harrogate, Sheffield, Doncaster, Bradford, Hull, Goole, and Huddersfield, before wrapping up at Sadler’s Wells East in London.
Every venue on the tour will host Relaxed Performances for audiences with sensory sensitivities or learning disabilities, while select dates will feature Audio-Described Performances narrated by former Premier Dancer Pippa Moore MBE.
