It is a fab way to grab a satisfying meal without breaking the bank, especially since the deal is available all day rather than just at lunchtime.

One standout option remains the Holy Cluck, which is essentially where a grilled cheese meets a chicken parmigiana. It is packed with breaded chicken breast, marinara sauce, and a trio of melted mozzarella, Monterey Jack, and cheddar cheese, all served in toastie bread with house fries and a herby marinara dipping sauce. If you’re looking for something else, the deal also covers any dish from their Brunch and Lunch menu, like the Manahatta Club or the Avo-Licious, as well as the Deluxe Burger or the Not So Caesar.

If you are in the mood for something a little stronger, you can still upgrade your soft drink for just £2 to enjoy a 175ml glass of house wine or a pint of Madri, making it the perfect treat for some midweek relaxation. For those wanting to go all out, you can even upgrade the meal itself to a Flat Iron Steak with fries and a mini Caesar salad for just an extra £1. That’s a bargain!

ThatZiki

Trinity Kitchen, 27 Albion Place, Leeds LS1 5AT

A personal favourite when in Leeds for a spot of retail therapy is the fantastic ThatZiki in Trinity Kitchen. These guys now have a permanent spot from which they serve their unbelievably good gyros, and I LOVE them. Choose from chicken, pork, a combination of the two meats or salty halloumi, stuffed into a soft pita with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, fries and your choice of sauce.

Super filling and a bargain at just £8.50! There’s also a vegan version available, so non-meat eaters don’t have to miss out on this brilliant offer! If you’re feeling extra hungry (or you’re my husband), you can upgrade your gyros for £12.50 and get double the filling in an oversized pita.

Little Bao Boy

IMAGE: Little Bao Boy

3 Sovereign Square, Sovereign Street, Leeds LS1 4BA

From their resident kitchen at the North Brewing Co taproom on Sovereign Street, the iconic Little Bao Boy is serving up a stunning array of fluffy, cloud-like bao buns with a diverse selection of creative fillings. Having started as a street food favourite, they’ve truly mastered the art of the bao, and the vibe at the taproom makes it one of the coolest spots in Leeds for a casual bite.

These are easily some of the best baos in the city, and their lunch deal is an absolute steal for anyone working in or visiting the city centre. You can grab two of their signature baos plus a side of fries for just £11! It is the perfect portion size for a midday refuel without that heavy afternoon slump.

Available Monday to Friday from noon until 4pm, the deal allows you to mix and match from their lineup of fan favourites. I’m a huge fan of the KFB (Katsu Fried Buttermilk Chicken), which comes topped with a delicious katsu curry mayo, but the Chicken & Gravy is a brilliant, comforting twist that you don’t see everywhere. For those who love a classic, the Char Sui Pulled Pork is slow-cooked to perfection, while the Salt & Pepper Aubergine is a must-try for vegans or anyone looking for a crispy, flavourful plant-based option.

The combination of the soft, steamed dough and those bold, punchy Asian flavours, paired with a fresh pint from North Brewing if you’re so inclined, makes this a cheap lunch ritual you’ll want to repeat every week.

Bundobust

31–32 Park Row, Leeds LS1 5JD

Bundobust has been one of Leeds’ most celebrated restaurants since the day it opened, and for good reason. It combines authentic Indian street food with a craft beer taproom in a way that shouldn’t work on paper but absolutely does in reality. The vibe is always buzzing, and because it’s a walk-in-only spot with no bookings taken, it’s my favourite place to just turn up and grab a bench whenever the craving hits.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly lunch that doesn’t skimp on flavour, this is where you should go. The menu is built entirely for sharing, with most of the legendary small plates still priced at under £7 each for 2026. You can easily get a satisfying lunch for two for well under £20, which is incredible value for food this good. You can’t visit without ordering the Okra Fries – they are seasoned to perfection and totally addictive – and the Vada Pav, which is a spicy mashed potato burger that is pretty much the ultimate Mumbai street food comfort meal.

While they are unlicensed for spirits, their craft beer selection is exceptional, featuring plenty of their own Bundobust Brewery brews designed specifically to pair with the spices. This lunch deal in Leeds is available all day, every day, so give it a go – no excuses!

Manjit’s Kitchen

IMAGE: Manjit’s Kitchen

Leeds Kirkgate Market, George Street, Leeds LS2 7HY

Kirkgate Market is one of the best spots in Leeds to grab cheap eats without compromising on flavour. The market is packed with independent stalls and eateries serving up a variety of tasty lunch options for under ten pounds. One standout has to be Manjit’s Kitchen, an Indian vegetarian kitchen known for its incredible street food.

If you want to add some spice to your lunch break without breaking the bank, Manjit’s Kitchen is the place to go. Everything on the menu is under £10, making it easy to explore different dishes. For the full experience, try the £7.50 Thali, which comes with cumin rice, a mixed salad, two curries, and a roti. And if you fancy a little extra indulgence, their crispy onion bhajis are just £1.50 each.

Best Set Lunch Menus & Two-Course Deals

For something a little more indulgent, several city centre restaurants offer set menus at great prices. Here are some of my favourites:

Browns Brasserie & Bar

The Light, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 8TL

Browns Brasserie & Bar in The Light is one of Leeds’ most beloved all-day dining spots, and their freshly launched spring/summer menu is a very good reason to make it your lunch destination of the moment. The new menu is a celebration of British brasserie cooking at its seasonal best – elegant without being fussy, and genuinely impressive for a weekday lunch. This season’s offerings include new starters like Asparagus and Poached Egg with hollandaise and crispy leeks, and fresh, vibrant main courses such as Cornish Sole, served with sautéed baby potatoes and clam & pancetta butter – delicious!

Monday to Friday from noon until 7pm, two courses cost £19.50 and three cost £24.50 – exceptional value considering the quality and setting.

Banyan

2 City Square, Leeds LS1 2ES

Conveniently located just a stone’s throw from Leeds railway station is Banyan, an elegant yet laidback bar and restaurant serving globally inspired cuisine. For 2026, their popular two-course offer is still running Monday to Thursday for just £15, where you can choose a main course and pair it with either a starter or a dessert.

To start your meal, you can pick from five different options. These include the Bang Bang Chicken Skewers drizzled with satay sauce and caramelised peanuts, Thai Sweetcorn Fritters with gochujang ketchup, or the Salt & Pepper Squid. For those who prefer something lighter, the White Bean Houmous served with hot honey and toasted flatbread is a great choice.

For the main event, the current menu features flavourful dishes like the Chicken & Chorizo Pasta or the Lemon & Herb Roast Chicken on a bed of sweet potato and pesto mash. A standout choice remains the Deluxe Burrow’s Burger, served with house fries, where 25p from every sale is donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

If you’d rather finish on a sweet note (yes, please!) instead of starting with something savoury, you can choose from desserts like the Strawberry & Rhubarb Crumble Blondie. However, I still highly recommend the Mini Nutella Doughnuts, which come warm with vanilla ice cream and toasted hazelnuts.

The Ivy Asia

The Ivy Asia Leeds interior, taken during my visit to the restaurant last year

55 Vicar Lane, Leeds LS1 6BA

With its impressive, maximalist interiors and mouthwatering menus of Asian-inspired dishes, The Ivy Asia Leeds should be top of your list for a romantic lunch date. I have been numerous times now, and it honestly always feels like a proper “boujee” treat from the second you step onto that glowing green malachite floor. The decor is incredible – it’s easily one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city – and the food looks just as pretty as the interiors.

The best part is that an afternoon here doesn’t have to break the bank. Their Dragon Set Lunch Menu is a fantastic way to experience the high-end vibes for a fraction of the usual price, offering three exquisite courses for just £21.95 per person. Not only is it a superb cafe, but it’s also a popular pottery painting studio. Originally established in smaller premises in 2006 and now situated at the top of Haworth’s famous Main Street, Jill Ross, an art enthusiast passionate about good food, independently owns this lovely eatery. Housed in a double cottage that can seat up to 100 guests at a time, it offers an extensive menu of fresh, contemporary dishes, plus some wonderful creative activities.

Cobbles and Clay opens 7 days a week from 8:45 am until 5:00 pm and serves a fantastic array of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes as well as a brilliant afternoon tea. Morning diners can choose from a varied menu of traditional breakfast favourites like hot breakfast sandwiches, Eggs Benedict and Mushrooms on Toast in addition to more modern offerings like Sweet Potato & Chorizo Hash and American-style pancakes. There’s a great menu for the little ones at lunchtime too, priced very reasonably.

Those dining between 12 pm and 3 pm can choose from a delightful menu of homemade soups, Yorkshire sharing boards, hearty hot dishes and a wide selection of deli sandwiches with delicious fillings like Bombay Bhaji, Salt beef & Sauerkraut, Falafels & Hummus, Sirloin steak with Blue Cheese and many more. Again, there’s a great menu for the little ones at lunchtime, so kids can fill their tummies before painting their very own pottery piece.

The Black Bull

119 Main Street, Haworth, Keighley BD22 8DP

Probably the most photographed of places to eat in Haworth and certainly the most iconic, The Black Bull sits proudly at the pinnacle of Main Street and boasts a remarkable history. The inn dates back to the 16th century and is recognised by the Brontë Society as part of the Brontë Quarter. Branwell Brontë, the brother of the famous Brontë sisters, frequented the Black Bull and would allegedly attempt to make a swift escape from the kitchen window when concerned relatives were looking for him, when he’d had one too many drinks! The Black Bull has recently changed hands and is welcoming visitors back under its new management team.

If its fascinating history isn’t enough to tempt you inside, its traditional cosy interiors and gorgeous food might. The Sunday roast at The Hawthorn has gained a national reputation – it has been named one of the best in the country by Rate Good Roasts, and it’s easy to see why when everything from the meat to the vegetables is sourced directly from Yorkshire farms and prepared with such obvious care.

Pavé

98B Main Street, Haworth, Keighley BD22 8DP

Another fabulous eatery located at the top of the iconic Main Street is Pavé Charcuterie and Bistro. The Old Registry restaurant boasts character in abundance, and it’s the perfect setting for a romantic candlelit dinner for two. The building itself carries a remarkable literary history: this was the post office where the Brontë sisters secretly mailed their manuscripts to publishers in London in the late 1840s, submitting their work under their now-famous pseudonyms.

Lovingly restored by the team behind The Hawthorn, this all-day café-bar serves brunch, lunch and evenings with a menu built around seasonal British and European produce.

Harrogate mumpreneur Sam Naughton understands how complex and lonely pregnancy loss can be. Formerly Head of Brand Communications at Yorkshire Tea, Sam’s life changed after experiencing a miscarriage, leading her to step away from her corporate career and go on to found Cocoon, a Harrogate-based fertility and women’s wellbeing clinic created to support women and families through loss, anxiety, and uncertainty.

Pregnancy loss is a topic close to home for me, too. Having experienced three consecutive miscarriages, I know how complex the grieving process can be, and how difficult many women find it to open up about first-trimester loss. For pregnancies that follow a loss, the usual excitement can be clouded by fear and anxiety. In this interview, Sam opens up about her journey through miscarriage and pregnancy after loss and how her experiences have shaped the way she supports others through Cocoon.

Sam Naughton on Navigating Pregnancy Loss and Mental Health

Can you tell us a little about your journey and what led you to start Cocoon?

My journey towards starting Cocoon wasn’t planned at all. I’d built a career I loved, had a busy family life with my husband Ben and daughter Ruby, and felt settled in who I was and where I was heading. Losing my baby changed everything.

When Willow died during early pregnancy, it forced me to slow down and really look at how unsupported women can feel through pregnancy, loss and anxiety. Cocoon came from a very personal place; it’s a business I created in response to my own experiences and the gaps in care I encountered when I needed support most.

How did your journey take you from your previous corporate career into what you’re doing today?

Before starting Cocoon, I was Head of Brand Communications at Yorkshire Tea. I loved my job and had invested years into building that career. After losing Willow though, my perspective shifted. I couldn’t return to that world unchanged. What mattered to me felt different, and I needed to create something that reflected that shift. Stepping away wasn’t easy, but it gave me the space to build a business that felt really aligned with my lived experience.

What experiences or moments in your life have shaped the way you approach supporting others through pregnancy and loss?

Living through both baby loss and pregnancy after loss shaped everything. Sitting in waiting rooms feeling terrified, grieving quietly while still parenting my daughter Ruby, and trying to protect my family while struggling internally, all stayed with me. Those experiences taught me how vulnerable these moments are, and how important empathy, time and emotional safety really are when supporting people through pregnancy and loss.

Could you share a bit about your experience with miscarriage and how it affected you emotionally?

My baby died at ten weeks, and emotionally it felt as though time stopped for me while the rest of the world carried on. Ben and I had already named our baby Willow and imagined where they would fit into our family, so the loss felt incredibly real and personal.

What I struggled with most was how miscarriage is often spoken about in clinical terms. For me, it was a bereavement. I was grieving a child I would never meet. Alongside the sadness, there was this shock and anxiety, often all at once. I learned very quickly how easy it is to grieve quietly when your loss doesn’t fit how people expect grief to look.

How did you cope with grief while still being present for your family and everyday life?

Life didn’t stop after Willow died. I still had to be a mum to Ruby and show up each day, even when things felt incredibly heavy. I focused on routines and getting through one day at a time, often putting my own feelings to one side so I could keep everything moving for my family. Looking back, I can see how much I was holding inside. I was coping by carrying on, but it was lonely, and I didn’t always feel there was space to say how hard things really were.

Sam Naughton with husband Ben, daughter Ruby and son Alby

What advice would you give to partners, friends or family who want to support someone going through pregnancy loss?

Acknowledge the loss and don’t try to minimise it. You don’t need perfect words. Listening, checking in regularly and remembering important dates can mean so much. If parents have named their baby, using that name matters. Support shouldn’t disappear after the first few weeks; grief doesn’t work to a timetable.

How did your previous experiences with miscarriage shape how you approached later pregnancies?

Pregnancy after loss felt completely different. When I became pregnant again, fear replaced excitement. I didn’t trust my body, and every milestone felt fragile. Ben and I both carried that anxiety, trying to stay strong for each other and for Ruby. It showed me just how much emotional support is needed during pregnancy after loss, not just clinical reassurance.

What fears or anxieties did you face, and how did you manage them?

I was anxious about almost everything: physical symptoms, scans, appointments and the constant fear that something might go wrong again. I lived in a heightened state of alertness that was exhausting. What helped most was eventually talking openly about those fears and seeking support, rather than trying to manage them on my own.

What advice would you give to parents who are pregnant after experiencing loss?

Be gentle with yourself. Fear and anxiety don’t mean you’re ungrateful; they mean you’ve been through trauma. Seek support early, talk honestly about how you’re feeling, and remind yourself that you don’t have to navigate pregnancy after loss alone.

What inspired you to create Cocoon, and what kind of support do you offer for women and families going through loss or anxiety?

Cocoon was inspired directly by my own experiences. After everything Ben and I went through, I wanted to create a space that acknowledged the emotional reality of pregnancy and loss. We support women and families through fertility challenges, pregnancy, baby loss and anxiety. Alongside clinical care, we offer counselling, talking therapy, midwifery support and a calm, compassionate environment where people feel listened to and supported. We also work in partnership with the incredible Jane at Taking Baby Steps, who provides free talking therapy for those affected by baby loss, ensuring emotional support is accessible regardless of circumstances.

Why do you think combining clinical care with emotional support is so important for those dealing with pregnancy or fertility challenges?

Because the emotional experience is inseparable from the physical one. Fear, grief and anxiety affect how people feel, think and cope. When emotional support sits alongside clinical care, people feel safer, more understood and less alone.

Looking back, what would you say to anyone struggling to speak up about loss, trauma or pregnancy anxiety?

I’d say that what you’re feeling is valid, even if it doesn’t look how you expected it to. You don’t have to carry it quietly. Speaking up can feel frightening, but it can also be the first step towards feeling understood and supported.

I’m incredibly grateful to work alongside a dedicated, compassionate team at Cocoon, whose care and understanding make that support possible every day. Welcoming our son Alby into the world after loss has reinforced just how important that support is for families navigating these experiences.

To find out more about Cocoon, please visit www.cocoon-hgt.com

The menu features all the classic Thai dishes alongside some lesser-known options, all absolutely packed with flavour and beautifully presented.

To start, I’d recommend the Sukhothai Platter. At this time of year, however, eating restaurant-quality food in the comfort of our own homes would sometimes be preferable to venturing out on a cold, wet evening.

Earlier this year, I discovered Indulge Dining – a Michelin-star meal kit company that has consistently held a five-star rating since its launch. Chef and founder Andy Bowler boasts an impressive career history, having trained under Michel Roux Jr., spent five years working at both Fera at Claridge’s and Roganic with Simon Rogan, and honed his skills as Sous Chef at Gordon Ramsay’s Petrus.

I opted for one of Indulge Dining’s bestsellers – the Beef Wellington Kit, and it was superb! Every element of the three-course menu is included, along with easy-to-follow instructions on how to heat and present each course. It exceeded my taste expectations too: undoubtedly the most delicious beef wellington I’ve tried thus far. If you know a foodie who loves fine dining, I highly recommend gifting a meal kit from Indulge Dining. Veggies need not miss out either, as there are meat-free versions of the kits available too.

Hard Honey: Pure Honey – Honey Thief (£34)

I do enjoy a tipple or two at Christmas and, because I also enjoy a tipple or two on numerous other occasions throughout the year, I like to try something new over the festive season. My Christmas drinks cabinet this year will most certainly feature a bottle from Honey Thief – the UK’s first hard honey liqueur brand, which was established right here in Yorkshire.

Made from 100% sustainable European honey, the naturally fermented honey liqueur is available in four flavours – Pure Honey, Elderflower Nectar, Sour Cherry and Blueberry & Blackcurrant. Treat someone to a 70cl bottle of the 15% ABV liqueur (perfect as a cocktail base or simply over ice for sipping) or a couple of Honey Thief’s sparkling ready-to-drink cans.
