Thinking about glamping in the Yorkshire Dales? We cannot think of a more beautiful location in which to experience the joys of sleeping in close proximity to nature. However, whilst some still enjoy the simplicity of traditional camping, there are many like myself who avoid it at all costs.
Thankfully, in recent years a new and more luxurious form of camping has emerged. Glamping allows you to stay in the same rural locations and enjoy all the benefits of outdoor camping but without the nightmare tent pitching and uncomfortable nights. Instead of spending your week away with little besides a sleeping bag and a flimsy tent to accommodate you, elevate your countryside experience by staying in a fully equipped yurt, tipi, pod or geodome.

Where to go Glamping in the Yorkshire Dales
Catgill Farm
Catgill Farm – Camping and Glamping, Bolton Abbey, Skipton BD23 6HA
Catgill Farm is a family-run camping and glamping site in the phenomenally beautiful village of Bolton Abbey near Skipton. It’s one of the most popular campsites in the area so does offer standard camping pitches with electric hook-up points. However, for a more luxurious stay, opt for one of the fully equipped timber pods.
There are six uniquely styled pods and each can sleep up to 6 guests. They include everything one could possibly need for a luxury glamping experience in the Yorkshire Dales including comfortable beds, an ensuite shower room, a kitchen with essential appliances and utensils, a dining table, a smart TV with Netflix and Wifi. To maximise your enjoyment and make your stay even more memorable, each pod also comes with a hot tub and a fire pit with a pizza oven.
Swaledale Yurts
Park House, Keld DL11 6DZ
Swaledale Yurts is a campsite near Keld boasting five authentic Mongolian yurts. Nestled right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales on the bank of the River Swale, this is one of the best places to go glamping in Yorkshire if you want peace, tranquillity and stunning scenery!
The yurts are priced from just £99 per night and each can accommodate five guests. Spacious and homely with all the accommodation essentials, they’re a unique and affordable alternative to holiday cottages. Inside, you’ll find a wood-burning stove, four single beds (which can be pushed together to create doubles), a sofa bed, a mini fridge, a small heater, tea and coffee-making facilities and more. Each also has its own toilet and shower in a separate block.
The site also has a hot tub which guests can book for their own use and barbecues can reserved too.
Peaks and Pods at Boustagill Farm
Great Close Lane, Rathmell, Settle BD24 0LS
Peaks and Pods is a family-run glamping site based on a working farm. Located right on the border between Lancashire and North Yorkshire, it offers glorious views of the surrounding countryside.
There are five different pods to choose from but each is remarkably well-equipped with all the essentials and home comforts. Four out of the five pods at Peak and Pods feature covered hot tubs so this one’s perfect for a romantic getaway! Little extras such as fairy lights, readybeds and towels can also be requested.
The owners of Peaks and Pods have also created a unique communal space where guests can get together away from their pods and enjoy the outdoors. At ‘The Hub’, you’ll find a unique cooking station with colourful stools, a wood-fired pizza oven, a Weber barbecue and a two-seater wooden swing on which you can cuddle up and watch the sunset.
Wensleydale Glamping
Woodend Farm, Redmire, Leyburn DL8 4HB
Wensleydale Glamping is a farm-based site situated 5 miles or so from the market town of Leyburn. Its elevated position in the Wensleydale Valley means it offers panoramic views of one of the most scenic parts of the Yorkshire Dales.
The site itself is far enough away from the working farm to ensure peace and quiet but the owners are always willing to give guests a guided tour of their farm, which has been run by the family for generations.
As regards accommodation, Wensleydale Glamping offers three luxury en-suite pods. Locally constructed in an eco-friendly design, they’re fully insulated and have underfloor heating so can be enjoyed all year round. Each pod can comfortably accommodate four guests and includes all the expected essentials like bed linen, towels, kitchen appliances, cooking utensils and dinnerware. The pods also have their own private outdoor space with a picnic table and outside storage box. Firepits/barbecues are available to hire on request.
Coxons Farm Glamping Pods
Coxons Farm Glamping Pods are based on a working sheep and beef farm in Cracoe. As well as offering magnificent views and superb luxury accommodation, this is one of the best sites to go glamping in the Yorkshire Dales if you want to visit some of the area’s most popular tourist spots. Malham Cove is within short driving distance, as is the historic market town of Skipton with its award-winning high street, picturesque canal basin and Norman castle.
There are just two pods at Coxons Farm so this is the ultimate country escape! Double-glazed, fully insulated and underfloor heated, they’re super snug and cosy. All the required home comforts are included so you can sleep comfortably, relax and watch TV, prepare meals and connect to the internet. Charming little home-from-homes in a beautiful rural setting.
Dentdale Pods
Millbeck, Dent, Sedbergh LA10 5TB
Dentdale Pods are in an idyllic location on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park near the pretty village of Dent. With the Dales Way running alongside the site, it’s particularly popular with walkers and cyclists and the site has a dedicated cycle barn for cleaning and repairing bikes.
There are three beautifully appointed pods available at this tranquil Yorkshire Dales glamping site and they are priced from just £80 per night. Nestled between the hay meadows and lambing fields of a family farm, they are comfortable, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. One of the pods, The Plough, also features a hot tub which can be booked for £25 per night. The Harrow is perfect for families as it has two single bunk beds in addition to the standard double. The Farrow with its roll-top bath is ideal for couples seeking a weekend of relaxation.
Cherish Glamping
West Shaw Cote Farm, Low Abbotside, Askrigg DL8 3JH
Situated on a 27-acre smallholding between the village of Askrigg and the market town of Hawes is Cherish Glamping. The site offers sweeping views across Upper Wensleydale and some of the most luxurious yurt accommodations in the area.
Each of the beautiful yurts at this popular spot for glamping in the Yorkshire Dales features a king-size four-poster bed, a rainfall shower and a hot tub. Breakfast is included with each stay and delivered fresh to your yurt each morning! This isn’t the only food offering available at Cherish Glamping either – evening meals and packed lunches are also available.
The team at Cherish Glamping have done an excellent job at providing those little extras and has even created a unique spa which features a plunge pool and a barrel sauna.
Little Seed Field
Castiles Farm, Ripon HG4 3PU
Little Seed Field is a unique glamping site set on the edge of a working farm near Ripon. Boasting just seven octagonal cabins across more than seven acres of land, this option for glamping in the Yorkshire Dales has plenty to explore. This serene and picturesque site comprises ponds, woodlands, wild grassland and moorland and offers uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. There’s space in abundance for running around, playing games, den building and more!
Each of the seven insulated log cabins includes luxury beds, bedding, log stoves, tables and chairs both inside and outside, a kettle, crockery and cutlery and a fire pit / BBQ. There’s also a large covered communal area on the site which features a shared kitchenette with a fridge and microwave.
